My Leafstorms arrived while I was on vacation

AW.! Don't hide it in the safe. There is legendary Sebenza tolerances and F&F in this knife. Leaf Storm is begging to be used.

I'm a lot older than most of you guys and it just hit me where I've seen this translucent G11 before. Back in the late 60's fiberglass bows and fishing rods were this colour. Slightly green tint from glass...old Coke bottles.

I would have pic up for you guys..but guess what!?!?!? UPS screwed me again! It was suppose to be delivered Friday but was rescheduled until Monday. However, I leave on Sundays and won't be back till this coming Friday...so my 3 day shipping that I paid for turns into a 10 day wait...:grumpy: This is the 3rd time it has happened from UPS and their "3 day shipping.":barf:

So, pictures...this coming Friday the 14th...

I'm very tempted to have my family ship the knife from the house to my current location(2 hour drive)......but then that would be paying almost double the shipping cost...and I bet I'll have to wait even longer.

Maybe I should just buy a 2nd leafstorm and pay for 2 day air? What do you all think lol :p Arg...I am such a kid when it comes to waiting for new toys...:(

Got my second Leaf Storm...both G1 build with 06-09 date on blade. Only differance I see is texture on G10 is smoother on one.

I have been EDC'ng one for over a week and find no problem with ergo's on this knife. Actually more comfortable in hand than a Sebenza. Much better quality and F&F than a PT CC.

Ordered the second one on spec to keep as spare or use as trade goods, but my son scooped it. He was never a Spyderco fan (didn't like the hole), but after handling the Leaf Storm for about 10 min. He had to have it.

Best set of pics I've seen of the Leafstorm. Thanks for posting lots of them.

Will get pics up tonight....be driving back home in a few hours!

heh heh - the boy knows a good knife when he handles one ;)

As promised, it is friday and I am back home. Here is a picture of my leafstorm next to small benza. The leaf storm will be taking over EDC duties as the small benza gets a lot of second looks from the sheeple. Hopefully the green G-10 and the smaller blade will be more "friendly."

It's about as sheeple friendly as you can get...it has that funky or euro look I imagine a "mall ninga" would die in shame rather than be caught with one. Design and F&F is in Sebenza league..... bushing system and eccentric blade stop at half the price.

Couple of small neg's..had to knock off sharp corner at back of blade and I would like to see a stronger ball detent "break out force" for pocket safety. Stone wash Ti finish would be nicer and more scuff resistant than media blast.

Nice graphic Sebenza BTW.

.....

Nice graphic Sebenza BTW.

Thanks!

The Leafstorm does have very nice fit and finish. However, mine is no where near as smooth as my sebenza. I didn't really notice how thick the lockbar on the benza was until I looked at the leafstorm. Either route, the leafstorm locks up solid!

I will give the knife a bit of time to break in:p.

Only complaint so far is I can't get my darn lanyard to fit in the oddly placed lanyard hole!

Lanyard hole ? I thought it was a whistle. My wife caught me trying to blow through the lanyard hole and was convinced this knife disease was real.

You will find that holding lock bar over, blade rotates as free as Sebenza ( I tightened mine for near zero clearance). Rough feel comes from detent ball rotating against grind marks on blade. When I disassembled mine you can see where Spyderco has polished this part of blade to smooth over grind marks. I am not used to this rubbing noise but I'm going to have to get used to it.

As far as lock bar thickness, I have a custom Eric Elson 3 in folder with same 80 thou. Ti frame/lockbar and thicker G10 on other side and it is as strong as my small Sebenza.

I bought the Leaf Storm for it's euro look and bushing system and having carried and used it for over a week, I'm satisfied. Enjoy yours.

Your wife sounds like a smart lady. :D

I just ordered my Leafstorm, can't wait 'till it arrives! I'll probably be in the same knife-crazy boat with you when it does.

Thanks for the great pics, Reek, you helped me make my mind up.

I suspect Reeek's pics are going to sell a few Leaf Storms.....He should be getting a commission. Probably has a few guys looking up his Russian watch.

:thumbup:Nice pics as always Reeek.Thanks

It looks nice enough, just way too small for my tastes.

Do you want us to shoot our small knives or show pictures ?

I don't have a digital camera or know how to stuff pictures in this teletype machine.

BTW welcome to blade forums.

How are the ergos for your index finger? It looks like the handle would slide your finger right towards the edge. Or do you use more of a 3-finger grip with the index finger in the cut-out region?

Having any issues getting enough fingers on it? When I was toying around with it I couldn't get enough fingers (2 tops) to fit the grip, I mean don't get me wrong the knife looks awesome and it's a good size, but the handle just doesn't fit my hand at all.
