My long, convoluted search has Finally come to an end.

Great story NJBillK NJBillK :cool: congratulations my friend on finally obtaining your Lloyd grail.

I saw a a Boker 494 Barlow posted here on the Porch and fell head over heels in love at first sight. After searching for several months I found a minty one on the big auction sight and even though the knife is only worth $40 to $50 I placed a max bid of $200 on it so no one would outbid me. I won it for $35 and was ecstatic. Life however has a way to come around and bite you on the backside. I fell on hard times, had to sell off my collection and the 494 had to go. When I am in a position to start buying knives again I will be back on the hunt for another minty 494. It's funny how a knife in which others may not see much if any appeal to will catch your eye and you will do whatever it takes to own it.

NJBillK NJBillK your story was a perfect example of a man on the quest to have the object of their affection thank you for posting it.
Randy, thanks for the reply. I have also eyed the 494s.
What handle material did you have, the bone? The Saw cut delrin is nice, but doesn't have the soul of the others.

I am sure one will crop up. They are nice looking, and a solid platform. On top of that, you have enough of a presence on here that I wouldn't be surprised if someone is looking for one for you.

Best of luck on your continued improvement of your situation.

Mine was the delrin but I agree about the soul of the bone. I love barlow knives I have owned more of them than any other pattern with many of them sporting a sheepsfoot main and pen secondary but to my eye there is something almost magical about that knife. For this old man it is the perfect pocket knife.
