Well its been one year ago this week that I got my first Becker knife. My Father gave me a gift card to a large sporting goods store for my birthday and I was just itching for a new knife. I really wanted one of the SOG models but it wasn't available thru the store where my gift card was from. So it was back to the drawing board. The only other knife that they had that I was even remotely interested in was this one I'd been hearing about all over the internet called the Becker BK2?
(Glad I went for the Made in USA!)

So I don't know how the rest of you found out about Ethan Becker's Knives but I give you a quick story about how I did.
I bought my first Ka-bar a few years back, it was an all black Ka-bar fighting knife. It was great! Thought I'd never need another knife again. WRONG!!!!! How many times have I told myself that line?! I always need a new knife!! HaHa

Anyway, I was looking around on the internet for a new sheath and came across HedgeHog. It was about the time he was designing the sheath for the BK2. He was talking in his videos about this Ethan Becker guy and I was like who is Person? Why have I never heard of him? And how come I don't have any of his knives? Then I watched Adam's videos from E2E on the BK2 and his interviews with Ethan and I knew I would eventually get one.
And well………….. I got my BK2 one year ago. And I told myself I will never need another knife again…… HaHa! Let's see how that turned out.

The BK2 was unlike any knife I owned before and really opened up my mind to the genius of the simplicity of the knife. The more I used the knife and researched it, the more I loved it. I could do things with this knife that most knives couldn't do and I didn't have to worry about it breaking on me.
I was really upset when I found out how long they have been in production cause I could have really used one of these when I was a kid.

I guess I'll tell you a little about my life and who I am since I feel like I know so much about a lot of from reading this forum for a year now.

I'm 33 years old. I grew up in the swamps of South Louisiana and hunting and fishing was my life growing up. I did most of my deer hunting in Mississippi from age 10 or 11 till was about 25 when I moved to Texas. I always liked being in the woods and being surrounded by nature. I just moved a few months ago to a new house in the hill country on a couple of acres in Texas. I'm so glad to be out of the city! I have trees and wildlife in my yard and I can actually get out and use my knives now.

My wife and I have a 7month old son and he is the best thing to ever happen to me! I can't wait to give him his first knife one day and teach him how to use it. Being a father is the most incredible thing in the world.

Let's see, I grew up working in the oilfield spending most of my late teens and early twenties working in a machine shop when I wasn't in school. I went to college for music and art. I spent my first few years in Texas selling motorcycles and the last five years teaching guitar… well till we moved that was. We now live two hours away in a new city so I will have to start fresh again.

My first fixed blade was Buck 605A that I got from my Father for my 6th birthday. I carried it everywhere with me. I remember many Sunday mornings taking it in the car on the way to church and my dad making me leave it under the seat when we parked so no one would see it while we were in church.

I always loved knives. Never leave home without one.

Now days I carry my BK11 everyday. I used to carry one of my CRKT folders but in my opinion the fixed blade is the way to go. Once I get my garage/workshop set up, I plan on making a leather sheath for my bk16 to see how that works for an EDC.

Yes, thats right, I have many Beckers now. Its like an addiction that can't be stopped. My favorite knife is the BK12. I usually use it every day around the house and out on my property. I love Ka-bar knives but the fit and finish on Rowen blades is unbeatable.

I must be honest here, when I first got into Becker knives, The least appealing knife was the BK5. My plan was BK2, BK11, then BK9,7,and 4. And of course BK16. That was it. But after reading all the posts here a while back about the BK5, I broke down and got one. I must say that I was totally wrong about that knife. It is an awesome design and a killer in the kitchen. Carved my Thanksgiving turkeys with that bad boy!! I can't wait to strip the blade and do some mods to it.

That being said, I think one of the other things that draw me to Ethan's knives is the ability to mod them and make them your own. I have seen some real talent and amazing mods here on this forum.

The other thing that I'm impressed with is how many great people are on here. I've been lurking in the shadows, reading the posts for a year now and have seen y'all help out people above and beyond what should be expected of someone. And I have learned so much from all of you. There are tons of new people here lately and a lot of people who used to post when I started reading that seem to have vanished. There are still quite a few regulars tho. And Ive seen all you guys get along and be nice no matter if its someones first post or their eight-hundredth post. Thats what makes this community so awesome. There has been a few incidents along the way but most of you try to work things out in a rational and understanding manner. That makes this a rare and special community. Not to mention that Ethan Becker himself is on here quite regular and seems to me to be a stand up guy! And thanks Ethan for making such cool knives!

So I guess I'll quit rambling on, didn't mean to make this so long, I'm not good with introductions.
Ok Ok, I know you guys like pictures so I'll post up some pics of my Becker family and friends.

So here is my first Buck knife from when I was 6.

I think that qualifies as hog-wild. And to think, only 13 posts on BF... from the looks of it you've actually been spending time outside with your knives. :)
Welcome!

Don't listen to Tradewater. He's been drinkin' some of that Barlow Bottoms moonshine. :D
Ramps are good for you & for great knives!

Welcome!!!

Welcome to our corner of the asylum! Glad that someone finally figured out how to post pics for an intro post! (All you other lurkers take heed, this is how to do it properly!)

Looking forward to seeing you become a part of our little culture here, we got a great bunch of folks.

Those are some exceptionally great pictures. I'd love to express that with words that fit how much I like those photos, but I'm told I'm to keep it PG-13 here :D

Welcome to the pack, you'll fit right in!

The photographer in me would like to know which camera/lens you used for these pics. The bokeh is very beautiful.

Welcome to the forums and as others have said, that's one fantastic collection you've got there! The big question is, how many of them have drawn your blood? It's only a matter of time and they'll all get you in one way or another!

Congrats also on the move out of the city and the baby boy.

welcome! awesome thread and pics. I too have a BK6 blank (2 of them actually) that I hope to get finished one day. Life and money gets in the way too many times.
