My long over due introduction………..

Good story, pictures, stripped blades, stainless hardware, ground off thumbramp, obvious signs of use.

I give this introduction an A.

Welcome.

Thanks Everyone!! I'm glad you all liked the pics and intro. I've been wanting to get more involved here for a while but life has been a little crazy the last year with the new baby and the move out to the country. I love it here tho and being able to hunt deer from my front porch is a huge plus! I think out of the last 21 days I have eaten deer meat for at least one meal a day 18 of the 21 days.

cOLD: I'm about 30 minutes north of San Antonio now, just moved from Austin where I lived for about 7 years.

I'm proud of my little collection of knives. I feel as if they are a part of me. lol

maethor: For this set of pics I used my wife's older canon rebel xt with an 18-55mm lens. Don't know all the specs on it. I'm actually a fan of B&W photography and my favorite camera is the canon AE-1.

Yea tradewater, I have never really been a half ass kind of guy. I tend to jump in with both feet quite often, and sometimes get in over my head. haha. and I kind of like the ramp. If I ever get a second BK9 I'll probably try it out cause I have to admit that I like the look without and also that drop point 9 someone posted here last month.

mrn8: I always get nicked and scratched a little by my beckers with the occasional minor cut. I usually just clean the cut and apply some super glue! I learned to respect knives at a very young age. I have had my share of nasty cuts over the years but have been pretty lucky the last couple of years. And it was usually when I was doing something stupid with them.

tman038: yea I hear ya. Saw you post a while back, nice score! Got mine from UCPOPO awhile ago. I'm hoping to grind my bk6 out myself one day but until I know what I'm doing, Im just going to wait.

I look forward to getting to know all you guys better and post some more pics of all my projects.

This is an awesome place to hangout and I wouldn't mind becoming a true beckerhead one day either.

Welcome Dex!
It'll be nice having you around.
Thanks for the pics and the excellent intro.

I must be honest here, when I first got into Becker knives, The least appealing knife was the BK5. My plan was BK2, BK11, then BK9,7,and 4. And of course BK16. That was it. But after reading all the posts here a while back about the BK5, I broke down and got one. I must say that I was totally wrong about that knife. It is an awesome design and a killer in the kitchen. Carved my Thanksgiving turkeys with that bad boy!! I can't wait to strip the blade and do some mods to it.

I felt the exact same way about the 5. I found the blade shape unappealing and wondered what the big fuss was all about. I am soooo glad I was able to find one at a gun show and handle it. As soon as I had it in my hands I was sold. Now it's my most used Becker knife and I absolutely love it.

Dude!..... Where have you been all my life? :D

Don't worry about Hunter Sharp. It's just a little bromance.
However, if he shows up at your place and starts humping your leg...you might have a problem.:D

Nice introduction and awesome becker collection.... got my sights on a 12 right now...

I am pretty close then, I am on the NW side of SA and have a family ranch near Medina.

Nice to meet you neighbor :)

Go for it. I was hesitant for quite a while about the 12 due to the price. I finally pulled the trigger and was so glad I did. I actually didn't use it for a while cause I didn't want to mess it up. It is now my main knife and I beat the S&*% out of it and have had no problems at all.

Welcome, nice collection. I'm 33 too got 1 year old and another due in June wouldn't trade it for the world. Was your potbelly sharpened all the way down to the choil? I have one that came with a large flat I ended up grinding on it a bit. Great knife though. Sounds like a nice move getting away from the city, I miss the slower paced rural life.

Thanks and congrats! I was so nervous before my son was born but now I can't even image life before him.

And my potbelly was not sharpened all the way either. I used my lansky system and got it ground down pretty good. I did put some black scales on it from the ZK line. Cool knife.
It sure is more laid back than the city.

Good to meet you sir, great hoard of blades. Im gettin kinda close to havin a collection like that myself. Cant live without them! Im in NE texas myself outside of dallas. I hope you r enjoyin it here as much as i have the past couple of months. Im workin toward that beckerhead number too. Since i dont have a wife or kids, i consider my blue heeler Eurl and my blades to be my family and they get treated like it too. See ya around.

I don't have a Becker. But you have inspired me. Excellent post and pics. Thanks.

Good to have you here -- nice collection, and I agree that the BK12/Ritter Mk2 is darn near perfect for a GP field knife.
the Craftsman 2x42 is not a bad belt grinder to start with on a budget, if you have more $$$ to spend, a Coote 2x72 for $500 and a 1.5-2HP motor with variable speed rheostat is an even better way to jump into blade grinding.

Welcome to our neck of the woods !!! Great story. Family ROCKS !!! GREAT collection of fine blades you got there. :D
