Hello All !! Since I have been making knives now for 3 years, I have not only caught the knifemaking bug, but worse, the LUMBER BUG !!
I found out that this is very contagious and no known cure. What is even worse, I have been working with Purdue Univ. Wood Science Dept. on
a research study for stabilizing woods. This has even fueled this addiction even further. I thought I would share some of the woods that I
have collected over the last year or two for this project.

It's a good display !. I think it would be more popular if the name of the wood was on each piece.

Nice. I have the same disease, and a bunch of wood burners watching for burls for me when they're cutting firewood.

What are these? Mold forms? If you're doing any mold making for rubber casting or the like I'd love to hear about it as it's something I'd like to try.

I expected someone to ask about those but not as quick as you noticed. Those are all Victorynox and Dexter kitchen knives. We have 17 restaurants in our chain and when
the chef's want them replaced, they give the old ones to me and I give them new ones. I use these two fold; 1) cut down 14" blades to make home paring and boning knives
2) I have been trying to figure out how to melt and remold the handles. I have one mold built but still haven't figured out the melting and pouring part. I think I will have
to use virgin poly but still trying.

I would agree Frank. I tried to mark all the newest woods but didn't come out in the pixs. If I knew how to picture edit, I could type in each name above it but that's
beyond my knowledge of comps. I will try to re-edit and see if I can make it work.

Ah, a fellow Hoosier! I don't normally say this to another man, but that's some good looking wood you got there....

I attended Purdue as well (Hammond "Calumet" campus, then Westville's "North Central" campus... I think they are all called Northwest now?); What campus are you attending?

Nice collection, I have collected burls around home and have more that I just discovered while Deer hunting. Needless to say I have all the handle material I will ever need, Plus a lot to sell off.

I am the General Manager of MCL Restaurant and Bakery in W. Lafayette. We are just north of the campus.
I went there back in 1984. School of Krannert Business.
