I shouldn't care much, the knife seems to have survived fine, but I'm a little bummed to be honest

If you end up selling it and the potential buyer is into boxes then it presents a dilemma.

This was part of my concern. Also I just kinda like having those shiny red and black boxes lined up when I grab one for the day. Was sorta wondering if it was something that could be reasonably replaced but looking into it seems once the box is done, its done

Lots of people obsess over boxes and it is a bummer to get one in that condition. Especially knowing it would be a problem if you sell it someday. I get it.

The thing is you bought and paid for a knife. You got what you paid for. I don’t see what recourse you really have.

And here I am obsessing over how to get rid of all my knife boxes 🤣. As long as the knife is in pristine condition, that’s all I care about. The boxes get tossed into a closet, never to be looked at again. I get it though, we are all a little OCD in one way or another. Don’t get me started on my own OCD knife issues.

P.S. OP, I’m happy to send you my S110v Manix box if you think you can successfully get that label off and reapply it onto another box

P.P.S. Let’s see the new knife!

Bummer.

However, it’s a cool knife/keeper. One more reason to use it !

(I trash most boxes)

If it bothers you enough, have the retailer do an exchange. I wouldn't bother unless it were destined to be a safe queen. As soon as a knife is used, it's used. The box doesn't add much or any value for a lot of people.

Looks like BladeHQ if you got it from a retailer.

If it's bothering you then exchange it for one without the crushed box

Manix sprints can be worth more if the box doesn't look like its been run over. If you were planning on carrying it then don't bother. If it was a collection piece then exchange it.

Knife box lives can matter ...sometimes, for resale to collectors . Or even if you just like to use the boxes for storage, as a collector .

If I paid full price , I wouldn't hesitate to return for a replacement . If I cared that much . 🤷‍♂️

I always get a bit disappointed when my new knife arrives in a messed up package as well.

Most of the knives we enthusiasts enjoy are relatively expensive, and the excitement of receiving your new knife in a smashed box can suck some of the joy out of the event.

Plus, if your goal is to keep it in its box and only admire it once in a while...well...that option is sorta messed up now.

There is no right or wrong way to enjoy YOUR purchase as long as you are not hurting anyone.

Even if I cared about the box, no way would I send in a knife I was happy with just to get a new box simply for the fact that you never know what your next knife will look like. Uncentered blade, uneven grinds, off-center tip, bad action, who knows what the next knife will bring. Now if I had some quibble with the knife itself, I’d have no problem asking for an exchange. And I’ve done so numerous times, even for knife issues that many people wouldn’t care about. But a box? No way

Meh. Doesn’t matter much to me at all as long as the knife’s ok.

That said, anybody who ships knives in a padded envelope can go shit in their hat.

You paid for a knife, box, paperwork…..paid whatever they were asking. It’s the seller’s responsibility to reasonably satisfy the buyer. Contact the seller and request exactly what you paid for. If they refuse to comply, never purchase from them again. Business is business, no matter what the naysayers above might think.

That is why you don’t ship them in a padded envelope! I have worked for the USPS for 30 year- I wish people could see how things are packaged when they are shipped. They always blame the post office for broken dinner plates shipped in a napkin!

It is a problem 1st with the packaging , second with the PO.
Bothering me yes. Because I want all I pay for
How much would depend on the knife, and what my intentions for it were. If it was to be a keeper/user it does not have any effect.
High end collectable and it will have an effect on the sale price.
