  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

My Machax! thanks to all! Making micarta, etching. EDIT:put back to work 3 pics

thats just a great knife! I was iffy on the machaxe at first..but urs and some others I been seeing are making me want one!

but easy with that ''king'' talk! There's only ONE King! da big NINE! lol

Man, every time I come back to this it looks better and better. That is one gorgeous piece of steel right there sir.

This is really inspiring. Just ordered a Machax as my first Becker (others are coming), and I really want to do something like this to it. Gorgeous work!

HOLY SH*T!
I LOVE the micarta! Cant wait to try my new belt sander out on micarta...finally get some contours and show off the layers.

Thrill'y, your sander will help with that. But honestly, it's easy to melt micarta and gum up the belts.
One of THE BEST tools for shaping scales, short of a big fast grinder, is the humble file. I have a set of full-size nicholson's with handles.
tape up the blade, put it in the vice in soft jaws, and start shaping. You'll be astonished how much material you can remove quickly with a fresh file.

Are these metal files? I used a wood rasp set to shape my grips before...was taking FOREVER to touch it. I do need to invest in a good set of files anyways...you recommend the Nicholsons?

You did a great job altogether..but the micarta looks excellent. Im cutting up some Levis and some old camo bdu pants now..ive been inspired ;)

Sweet! I will again echo that your micarta looks amazing! I have got to try making some. Thanks for sharing!

Came out real nice. Now I am compelled to make some all denim, FABRIC OF THE GODS, micarta scales for my BK4 and 9.

How do you do that? I know what the paint remover is but what does the water do and what do you use to etch the metal?
Google blade forums etch and it should pop
Up near the top. Or search bf search how to etch. There's a link to it somewhere . clich did a how to
