Fifteen inches of perfection, forged by Bura. Sharp as a razor, quick as a snake, and so light and well balanced that it dances in your hand. Do I love this khuk? Take a look at what I did to it's scabbard and you'll have the answer to that question. It's covered in rough out pigskin recovered from an old jacket. Those tassles are horse hair, and that blue eyeball thing-a-ma-bob is from Turkey (the "all seeing eye" is big ju ju in Turkey). Yes sir, this is the one I'll carry there and back again.

Very nice Sylvrfalcn. And with the TLC your lavishing on her, she should be quite happy :)

Bruise, this is just a guess, but I bet it's from the time a buck deer charged the house and got lodged in the wall.

Sarge,
They are just lovely. Nicely done stitching on the scabbord. Did you remove the buffalo hide, or attach on top of it?

Kis, underneath the pigskin the original scabbard is intact and unmodified. I didn't use any glue either, just stretched the leather tight, sewed a single seam up the back (by hand, natch), trimmed off the excess, and slipped the frog back on. It's a slipcover, if you will, designed to soak up the scuffs and scrapes of field duty, cover most of the shine (still gotta tape the handle), and best of all, be easily removed and replaced by a new one (a twenty minute job). Terry Sisco sells covers like this done in canvas, in a variety of colors/camouflage patterns. They're a good idea that really make sense, totally change the look of your scabbard while protecting it at the same time.

Bruise, that's not a hook, my wall's horny.

Sarge,
That's an outstanding looking cover! You do good work. Didit take very long to make? Where did you get the tassles? They look like they might have come off a hat band?

Thanks everybody, glad y'all like my little afternoon sewing project. Mike, the cover took me just under a half hour to make, and the horsehair tassles were picked up at Tandy leather. Thinking of doing one yourself? Check thrift shops for an old leather jacket. Garment leather is supple and stretchy, perfect for form fitting to odd shapes like khuk scabbards.

I don't know what else to say except, Just wonderful. The leather source is the idea that should save a lot of change too. As has already been stated. You do outstanding work.

I finally got my 15"er to feel like a sharp knife. It felt pretty good when I got it but it really will cut pretty darn good now. You sure are right about them being fighters. :) :) :)

One of these days I'm going to have to bag me a big old rattlesnake, and use his hide to make a cover for my 12" Sirupati. :D

Sarge,

Nice personal touch on the sheath.

I got one like it made by Sher that that i keep near me at night to scare away the monsters under the bed. Sirupatis are my favourite.

Redvenom: you got monsters under the beds over there too?
