My Manix is killing me!

Try holding like you would when you use your thumb, but do not put your thumb in the hole......put your middle finger on the hole from underneath the blade......give it a slight push and a swing of the arm.....as soon as your hand stops.....the blade will snap into full lockup.

Or.....

Press the lock down (with your pointer finger)when its closed......swing your hand......when your hand stops.....the blade will snap open...almost axis like movements. Pressing the lockbar down, takes the friction off the tang, allowing that heavy blade to swing open with ease. :D

Yeah, I'm a knifesterbater :D
 
My disfigured thumb and I thank you for all the suggestions. ;) I can do a pretty authoritative "SpyderDrop", so that's not a problem, and I'm also using a bit of surgical tape to close the gap in the end of my thumb.
 
I get split fingertips in the winter. Not fun. Put some Neosporin in the gap and bandage it over at night.
