My Military

Went car camping last minute this weekend. We forgot almost EVERYTHING. My shortened Military got an incredible workout. I cut all manner of sticks, tape and packaging. I opened three cans of chili with it. I cut up shad and filleted a catfish. I also used it with a magnesium firestrater to get the fire going. I also cut open two beer cans to boil water with. It held it's edge suprisingly well. I don't see this knife slowing down ever. It's one of my favorites to use hard. Here is a pic.

A little confused here, you say Spyderco would not install a new blade, even if you paid for it? I've done this with a Buck 110, sent her into Buck and got a new blade installed for nothing but shipping.

This seems strange too me. I know you aren't the original owner but I was not the original owner of the Buck.

They said they will not replace the blade for any reason. I said I would gladly pay. They said no. They did not offer a reason. I just decided at that point to fix up this knife. The whole thing confused and slightly frustrated me.

IIRC blades are individually fitted to the locks and they don't keep a pile of spares laying around. Installing a new blade would probably mean installing a new lock and refitting it to the tang. It clearly states on their website that they won't replace blades.

A Buck 110 can be had for $40. The Military goes for $140. Bit of a price difference. ;)

I picked up Military (factory second) with part of the tip broken off and a clip screw broken off/welded/rusted into the liner at one of the Factory Sales. I did not change the handle, but I did grind down the spine to a point. By my pics, it looks like I let the tip heat up a bit too much. I was dipping in water in between short visits to the belt grinder.

It looks more like a Para blade in a Military handle. Here are some pics:
