These were the contenders....

Ths Ratweiler really dug in and was real comfy to use, I know why they named them Chopweilers !!!

Didn't take long at all before the palm fell...

Now onto the MOD4, you will see that mine differs to Vics in that the tang on mine is thinned out on the handle, this throws more weight forward making it a little better for chopping !

The outer of the palm is quite hard and the MOD4 acted like it was blunt but I know that it wasn't, before long I just gave up and fetched my Fiskars !!!!

The verdict is that the Fiskars is the better chopper, no real suprise, but the Chopweiler was not far behind and in my opinion is a more versatile tool.
The MOD4 would have done the job but was much harder work although it is great at battoning !!!
Oh yeah and another thing....the Chopweiler still shaved my leg with ease !!!

Thanks for posting the test. The chopweiler has become my favorite heavy field knife, and I too find that it chops surprisingly well. I like to grasp the palm swell at the back of the handle when chopping to increase the effective length of the moment arm.

Need to get a Chopweiler, lol

You really do bro, people talk about the ultimate survival knife....I think this is it !!!!
I wanted one ever since I read an article about survival knives in Backwoodsman mag where they really praised them !!!!;)

haha, sweet you know im a sucker for this stuff, and looks like you had fun. Also Like what you did with the fiskars! :D

Nice test! I passed on buying a Chopweiler since I had a Gossman on order. They do look like great knives though.
