I removed the black coating on the axe head and redid the handle in bombay mahogany stain. Nowhere near perfect, but nicer than the original. Any tips in making the head lighter. Right now it is 12 ounces, I would like to shave a few ounces of that

Hi there DD, looks great. Other than narrowing the head a bit the only other place I can see for saving weight is the back of the eye"poll area" could be thinned a bit. The poll area will be a lot softer so easier to grind. Looks great though, I myself would leave it.

Best regards

Robin

Thanks everyone, I decided to leave it alone and look for another axe that is lighter. It looks like allan foundry makes a lighter axe with a 9 ounce head

Does anyone make one lighter or is 9 ounce the best I can get?
