I've been using my BRKT fox river for a while now and I've decided that it would be a pretty good "one knife does it all" for me and the things I do. I wanted to make some changes to it to suit me and make it better for bushcrafting.

Here's what I did to it:

1. Took the old scales off.
2. Ground off the external lanyard loop.
3. Added new scales. Black canvas micarta with green box elder burl spacers and green liners.
4. Used epoxy and stainless bolts to fasten handle. One mosaic pin for looks.
5. Stainless lined lanyard tube incorporated in handle.
6. Scales were made longer and quite a bit thicker to improve grip.

The handle is about 7/8" thick at the back and tapers to 11/16" at the front.

This knife is rock-solid and will take all the abuse and batoning you could throw at it. Plus, I love that green on black look. I will be giving it a good work out with pics in a few days.

HO-leee CRAP! THAT is GORGEOUS!!!
I think I just found the person to rehandle my Northstar - now, where do I send it? :D

Holy heck! That is AWESOME! I got rid of mine last year because I felt the handle was just a bit too small for my paws. This is seriously a gorgeous piece of work.

You guys are the best! Thanks for all the great feedback.

Now I just have to go out and get some dirt on that clean shiny blade.

For those that may be interested:
I didn't want to ever worry about that spacer popping loose with batonning or chopping so here's how I solved that problem: hidden pins in the handle. Even the mosaic pin is really a bolt underneath. My goal was to blend the ultimate strength of micarta and bolts with a touch of class at the same time.:D

Your knife looks great and thanks for posting the pictures on how you put it together.

Excellent work, that really came out great. You answered my questions about the insert and strength, I think you nailed. Enjoy it.

Great job, I love the way it looks.

The “Estela” style handle scales coming up to the plunge line make a lot of sense to me.

The external lanyard loop may look cool to some, but I prefer the internal lanyard tube, and is part of the reason I upgraded to a Fox River Recurve;

...the external loop never felt good if I was palming the butt of the knife.

The details if slab construction show great attention to functionality.

A very nice job.
