Got home from the Cape today, and this was was waiting in the mail... I know Ilbruche already posted pics, but this rig is special and I thought I would post another. It is a lot lighter than I expected it to be and rides beautifully. Ilbruche - Thanks again Bro:thumbup:

Dantor - Thanks.

M22 - It's a Koster Monster Nessie and the little guy is a Robert Nelson Fish 3-finger in ATS (both have Ironwood slabs).

Yep, Ilbruche is the man, a real class-act to deal with too.... I am just a little disappointed that he didn't include a beer/cigar-pouch on this big guy:D.

Oh wow man!

THere have been a lot of pics posted here of people's knives and the rigs they use to carry them...this is the first time I'm actually jealous.

Great set of blades and a fantastic rig to carry them in. Use them in good health.

Wow!

wow, that's nice man! Looks great and very functional. whats a set-up like that run if you don't mind me asking(leather+knives)?

Jenner515 - Yeah those guys do nice work.. I wish I could take credit for any aspect the design of any of them but I can't. I say intelligent stuff to Ilbruche like "Uh, could you make a sheath fore these?".... But I'm gonna use them:thumbup:

Fatheadhill,

I picked up the Fish about 12-14 years ago at a Show for about $60, I would prefer if you contacted Dan Koster and Ilbruche for their current pricing, pricing fluctuates a lot I'm sure, and I'd hate to give out dated info.

Ilbruche@hotmail.com and Dan can be found over in the Maker-specific forums.. Both good guys in IMHO..

ilbruce is the man, and does some awesome leather and handle work. I'd definitely not hesitate to send any of my toys to him.

Mneedham- Can you talk to me about the monster nessie? What do you like using it for? Work well as a main chopper? Is it still comfy for woodwork?

That monster nessie looks like something bill the butcher would carry. The nessie pattern has really grown on me.

Spooky,

Denver is right, it is a cleaver like a butcher would carry... To be fair, I only had the knife for a week or so (with no sheath) before sending it to Ilbruche, so I'm still feeling it out... It is very thick at the spine (1/4" or so), and a full flat grind to a very fine edge.. It is made from 5160 so it is tough. It feels just a like a cleaver in the hand, heavy. The edge is fine enough that it clearly makes a great kitchen knife (chopping, slicing, etc.), this is imporant to me, I believe that if a knife can't perform well in the kitchen, it has limited value in the woods or the camp. It can certainly chop wood (I've done a little), but will need to test more before rendering a strong opinion. I see it as versatile campknife, chopper, slicer. I don't really look at my knives as weapons, but this thing could cut a methlab operator in half with a single stroke:D... I'll report back with more use.

Rocky,

I can honestly say that pics don't do it justice, you just can't see the richness of the colors without holding it. I think we have similar views on "safe queens", but this is only rig I've ever owned and thought it might be too pretty to use and abuse (course I got over that...:)).
