My most ambitious project so far (edit: It has been surpassed now)

Very COOL project...The Last Great American Freedom Machine brought to life in mini scale. I also like the round in the drum feeding nice execution.
 
How did you patina the silver to such a nice blue ?


It is a gun black color.

I use JAX silver blackener. I first gave it a good 60 second soak. That make it build up a layer of crud. I scrubbed that off with baking soda and a toothbrush. The surface was left a matte looking dull gray. I rinsed off with alcohol, and then did the blackening steps - 5 seconds in the JAX, rinse under running hot water for 5 seconds ... repeat about 20-30 times without any pause. The black gets deeper and richer each short dip. Then I lightly clean up with baking soda, dry well, and rub down with a rouge cloth to get a smooth glow to the surface.
 
Amazing work! I love the round at the top of the magazine.
