The first US silver dollar, known as the Flowing Hair, first appeared as regular issue in 1794, even though they had been authorized by the Mint Act on April 2, 1792. The 8-reales coins of Spain were in circulation before that, and were the greatest influence in the creation of your silver dollar.

D. I'm thinking of a non-USA volcanic island. Which one?

I'm hoping you're thinking of Krakatau, also known by some as Krakatoa, the most famous volcanic island (from an eruption/explosion/disappearing point of view), which would be the one I would think of, but I'm half Indonesian. :)

B. The first US Silver Dollars were coined in 1794. The Spanish Eight Real coin circulated before it and is believed by many to be the forerunner of the US dollar.

C. The three major classifications of meteorites are Stony Meteorites, Stony-iron Meteorites, and Iron Meteorites. Stony Meteorites are divided into Chondrites and Achondrites. The largest percentage of meteorites are chondrites.

My last guess:

Savai'i island is one of the largest islands in Polynesia but one of its least populated. It's an untouched and pristine island showing few western influences and the people of Savai'i have maintained a way of life even more traditional than Upolu. There are any number of first class beaches on Savai'i and the places that aren't good for swimming are perfect for snorkelling. If you get sick of the beaches, the reefs, and the laid back life of a beachcomber, the interior of Savai'i is just as interesting.

Ultimately this is how all islands were formed. I'm not sure if the question meant there needed to be active volcanism on the island, but it's all for fun. :)

And a good guess, I think. If ya nuke it, ya bought it.:p

Arrrrgh!

I've found a few islands that fit the criteria. But interestingly, there is no info on most of them since they were evacuated some time ago.

How about Manam Island, Papua new Guinea?

Great last question though OE. Needs lots of digging around!
