My name is Damascus and I am a. . . User

I'm just curious. How do you find the edge retention so far? What are your thoughts vs regular steel.

I have a Large Sebenza with Raindrop Damascus. I love that knife and love the detail in the blade. I recently got a Carbon fiber inlay large and they fight over my right pocket daily. Both are great but I really love the Damascus blade. I hope you enjoy the new knife.

Thanks brother! I am certainly liking it thus far. . .

I'd love to have an update as well! The effort is always appreciated (if possible). Life gets busy for everyone.

I love CRK damascus. I have had several large and small 21's. Unfortunately the ones with the beautiful inlay or graphic had ladder damascus and for some reason ladder damascus just does not appeal to me. I like the raindrop and the newer basketweave. I always loved spirograph, but waited around too long and now they are gone. QUOTE]

My Raindrop Sm Sebbie dominates my EDC rotation, she has a CF scale from BarryH. The steel is easy to sharpen, holds an edge, and in (my) actual use cuts as well as a BG42 blade. Add to all that a unique one of a kind pattern. If only I could get an Insingo in Raindrop or Basketweave, hmm.

This is about a 4-5 year old blade, love that older raindrop even more methinks.

Just for anyone curious, my small Damascus see is clipped in my pocket every day with my keys. I have zero issue with using it. The Damascus holds up well and takes a nice edge. While it does lose the razor sharpness fairly quick, it keeps a sharp working edge no problem. I happily cut cardboard, food, paper, wood, plastic, etc without fear. The edges of the grind have faded a bit on the Damascus but that is easily enough fixed with a simple quick re etch or send off to CRK.

I am glad this thread is alive! Sadly, I sold my Damascus Seb and do not have any further updates. However, anyone and everyone with Damascus users are invited and encouraged to post their experiences!

So ran across this thread again. She's been in my pocket a lot lately. Right in with the keys and wallet and anything else. You can see where the grind starts, there is rubbing from my strop or leather belt. The edge bevel is wider than what CRK provides, but is mirror polished (despite what the photo shows). A user for sure and I wouldn't have it any other way.
