Alan finished my knife today and sent pics.

This was my own design. 6" OAL, intended as my new EDC.

This is my second custom, the previous one was also by Alan.

Can't wait to hold it!

That is a gorgeous knife. Alan does wonderful work...certainly approaching an art form. It would be difficult to confuse his work with that of another maker.
That's the best compliment that I can give him.

I have a couple three of Alan's folders and a fixed blade. He made mine when he was a knife maker, he's a master craftsman now imo.

What a beauty brother!!!
Looks like it will be incredibly comfy in hand!!
Congrats and enjoy it!!!

Comfort was exactly what I wanted when I was designing it. I've had far too many knives with pointy or sharp angles on the handles which made them uncomfortable to carry and/or use. IMHO the only thing on any knife that should be pointy and sharp is the blade. I used French curves to draw the lines clean and elegant, then made a couple models with cardboard to be certain the handle would fit my hand well.

Alan made a nice clean leather vertical sheath for it, but I may see about having a horizontal one made as well.

agreed

The knife was waiting in the mailbox when I got home. The picture really doesn't do it justice.

The only thing which could have improved it was if it had been free. Fits my hand like (wait for it) it was made for me. Alan created my perfect fixed blade EDC, and now I can only wonder if I just bought my last knife.

Nah. :D

Beautiful! I have one or two ... okay, maybe a "few" more than that ... of Alan's knives. He is, by far, my favorite knife craftsman. If you have a chance (and desire to do so), feel free to post an image or two of your new Davis in this thread, which I keep alive to showcase Alan's knives.

Heck, I wish I could afford one of his folders, but I have this bad habit of needing to eat.

Lol, me too.

I've bought two Davis folders off the Exchange here, both at great prices (albeit a few years ago). The first one I foolishly traded off because I felt it was way too nice/expensive for me to carry and use at the time. I still have the second although I don't carry it often enough.

They are worth saving for.

d.r.h. is being modest. ;):D Be sure to check out the thread he posted and also his collection album in his sig line. To say they are awe inspiring feels like an understatement.
