Well, during my quest for a "bushcraft" knife...its like searching for the holy grail for me. Someone posted a link to this knife..its a prototype, the "Force Recon Proto". Well, I had to try one, and I new that it was really just a beefed up Nebula by the pics, but I said what the hell, I love my Nebulas, so whats the harm..After first inspection, its a great all around copy of the Nebula, or a Type of Nebula..its handle is the same thickness, but the width of the handle is what makes the knife different, its beefier, and has more belly. I have to admit that I hate anything near the top back of the blade, and this worried me, but the handle feels really good. It reminds me of the Bravo1, which shouldn't suprise me as this knife was advertised as the Salt water answer to the Bravo1. At first glance, I was bummed over the sheath, I had the same reaction when I picked up the Bravo1's sheath...I just think that its not that great of a kydex sheath...I can't tell you why, just my gut feeling. After putting the knife in the sheath and removing it several times, I was suprised that it goes right in and out, not like my Bravo1...which was a pain in the ass. Its retention was fine, I now trusted the sheath...I will say there is a few things that did piss me off, the knife was used or miss handled at some point in its path from BRK&T..It has scratches on the tip, they are visable in the pic, and some more lighter scratches along the edge. I don't really care, as I planned on using the knife..its just that whole.."I'm not the guy who popped its cherry thing" ...And the edges of the Kydex were and are pretty ruff..I would have buffed the damn thing before shipping it out, but thats just me. Overall, I am pleased. I like this basic design alot, and this variant is cool. On a scale of 1-10, I give it an 8. If I wanted one, and money was an issue, I would get a Nebula. If you want a bigger better handle, this is the one. I say head to head, the handle is the only thing I like "better" than my other Nebulas. I included a Nebula in the last pic, to compair the handles..oh, the Recons handle is about 1/4" longer too. Sorry, but I didn't even know I had it, it was in the Mail box, or I would have gotten some action pics for you guys...My wife came back in from night school carrying the box...It made the last 2 hours of rolling on the floor entertaining my daughter while suffering a pulled muscle in my lower back worth it. Enjoy the crappy pics, Gene

Enjoy your new toy

It all comes down to what fits your hand and your needs.

Now get out and do some bushcrafting.

An awesome score since I believe only 25 will be made! The knife looks very functional as well!

I like the overall shape of these, and I like that it's thinner stock than the Bravo. Let us know how she shakes out in the field!

In about 2 weeks, give or take a day...I and my family should be pulling up into MAss. and starting our new deal, in the North East. You can bet your bottum dollar, I am going out in the woods almost daily...My new knives, posts and just about anything not involving work, family and play (stalking through the woods) is taking a back burner for a while. I can't wait to get outta this city....Gene
