I milled today from micarta I got tired of ripping belts and messing them up. Really was easy to make its funny they charge something like 60 to 70 dollars for one. I will probably make a real blade from some thin stock.

But for now it works like a charm

Cool! I love the home built gadgets and is probably half the reason I peruse the forums. I am just finishing up a fullering groover right now.

Nice job, Spencer. That is one of those items that I could never figure out how the supply catalogs justified the cost:confused:

It does look like you're getting close to 1000th post. One of those "Pops Knives" sure would make a nice give-away! :)

Just wishful thinking

Just about the damn coolest thing i've ever seen someone make on here! lol...i tried to split a belt once while it was moving from the front, and all it did was grind my knife away! lol. :D

Yep, that's all you need. Don't bother making your own blade for it-the utility knife blades will do fine. I'd recommend about 1/4" more protrusion-the belt will quickly wear a groove in your blade, and, at the height you have it set, the tip will break.
The top plate is nice, but, you can just use your thumb ;)
