Went out today to do some hiking, shooting and mostly to work on my spring snare for the Becker challenge, hell I even ate some termites.
About 30 miles east of fall creek

DAMN!!! Need some more info. How bad was it? Judging from the pics, you gotta have at least a 2" long incision somewhere. I'm guessing leg, thigh perhaps.

Hope you're alright, brother.

oh no man, I filleted the top of my left index finger. It's not really that bad, twas a bleeder tho.
I had a buddy there with me whom I had take a pic of the mess before bandaging, it was a fast drip. Luckily I had 3 first aid kits with me of my own, he probably had one too. I'd have been a goner if I'd hit artery, we were about an hour from anything resembling medical care.

Finger works fine, got the full range of motion and all, be a few days before I'm pickin' my nose again tho.

So, what were you doing when you got the steel?

I was trying to adjust the angles on the wood portion of the L7 snare, was wet /hard wood and a knife I wasn't too familiar with. could've been tons worse.

Done that before, filleted a solid 1cm circle section off the tip of my thumb. It was kinda interesting, I felt it a little bit, but it didn't really hurt, I looked at it and it wasn't bleeding so I thought maybe I didn't go that deep, then i could see the blood start flowing out of the individual capillaries in the skin, and sure enough, it became a bleeder. Hurt like a b*#€h after a few seconds too. The pics look like you were following a blood trail:p.

Love the scenery shots. I know I live in the PacNW, but damn we have some georgeous terrain up here:thumbup:

Damn I was waiting to see some nasty pics as I scrolled down the page....

Glad your good bro

Hey Oregon.....

OUCH......Sorry to hear you dinged yourself, super glad it was not worse...Between the kitchen, the shop and the woods I gotta bunch of little white lines to keep me company.....I try to think of em as inoculations against even bigger Oh DAMNs......

LOL, owie owie owie!

Glad you are okay brother!

I'm glad your ok.You need to feed that thing more,so it don't turn on you like that.
It could of been worse if it happend when you were taking a leek.
Take care and keep your knee's together.

Honestly this terrifies me!! Forget getting lost, or bear attacks, what worries me most is getting bit by my becker. Most of my hiking is done in deep back country where help can be hours away, rolling an ankle could lead to a week long wait but at least I can last a week with pain, losing a lot of blood could be a death sentence. Worst of all I'm the first aid guru in my circle, I may invest in those puncture resistant gloves, anyone have experience with those?

did you have a good first aid kit?

pix of wound please :)
