Hi folks. Well, I know this is not a high dollar knife and CRKT is frowned upon by many. I just think this is a dang nice knife for the money. Nice addition to my cheap brand knife collection. Nice edge and the blade flips out smooth as silk. Feels good in the hand also. I LIKE CRKT.

the clip looks like it will make almost half the handle stick up in your pocket. Besides that not a bad looking knife at all

I had one of the early ones. I was not a fan. But im glad you are happy with your purchase.

You didn't mention what model it is.

I like CRKTs. Have several of them. Unforturnately two models are not out of production: Drone and Vertex. IMHO, they make good knives. Not really in love with the Speed Safe (or whatever) where you have to push down on the thumb stud to get the AO to work.

It looks like the CRKT Ikoma Fossil. I have one and it's a neat knife but a little bulky/heavy and it had too many hotspots for me. Another example of a great design by CRKT though.

That is a good observation on the clip. Very true and the only thing I am not crazy about on the knife.

To many hot spots huh. Dang it, now they bother me. LOL LOL LOL

While I'm not a fan of most CRKT's, after hearing so many great things about the Fossile I broke down and got one, the small one ($34.50, Are you kidding me?). Once I got it in hand, I loved it so much a bought the large one too ($39.74!?). Love that one too. Amazing flipping action on both of mine. Smooth as silk. Perfect detent. The ergos are great IMHO. To me, their action, ease of firing open and smoothly dropping shut...and completely solid lock up makes them comparable to a lot of $100 to $300 flippers I own. They put "the action" of my Spyderco Acvocate ($227) to shame. The caliber of blade steels are far apart (8cr13MoV vs. M4) but WOW that action. My small Fossile took a nice new, razor sharp, polished edge too.

I bought my only CRKT..a mini Jettison to pocket carry.
I like it even though I'm not a huge fan of Wharncliffe's.
Flips open fast and frame locks nice.
Had to make a minor adjustment to the pivot.

I had a CRKT Kasper Crawford show up today, for just under $20. It's pretty utilitarian, and fit and finish is just OK, but one heck of a bargain. A smashing knife at this price point.

^ Awesome picture, and excellent mini review on your CRKT Fossile's, Scrim. Thanks!

Which one of these model's has the M4 blade steel, the small, or the large?

You've also really become very skilled at putting such a beautiful mirror edge on your knives.

Wish CRKT would up their game on steel and heat treatment but, they really step up to the plate when it comes to bling and their willingness to try something different.

Kelama, Thanks for the kind words my friend. I didn't explain my "steel comparison" well. The Spyderco Advocate, whos action I complained about, is the knife with the M4. Both versions of the fossil come with 8cr13MoV. Hope you're doing well!

Excuse my ignorance- I don't own any CRKT knives. I didn't think that you could buy M4 blade steel knives for those prices. Regardless, I really like the blade design of that CRKT model in the picture you posted.

Everything is going well in SoCal- got out in the water for most of the afternoon yesterday. And Daylight savings time is right around the corner! :)

I have had the CRKT mini My Tighe for about 2 years. Since break in it has been very acceptable as a small knife for bushcraft work. It is made out of 4116 cutlery steel and right now it has a wicked edge that was easy to put on it. I have another bushcraft type knife also with 4116 steel and I put another wicked edge on it also. It is a European made knife. I wonder why more makers don't use the 4116 steel for inexpensive knives? Do a search on 4116 and you will find that it is a very acceptable knife stainless steel that is better than 420C and 440C in edge holding and resharpens easily.
