My "friend" was unwrapping a cheap toy for my son. He was struggling with some twist ties. My wife said go ahead and use that pocket knife. He proceeds to cut the ties. I was pissed but didn't say anything. later I looked at the ties and they were made of thick metal. What was he thinking? The VG-10 blade has about 4-5 chips in it. I'm surprised the damage wasn't worse. Testament to VG-10. What do I do now?

I just got a slightly used Impala that had similar damage(several small knicks) from skinning a deer & hitting the breast bone!
All it needed was a liitle work on the sharpmaker & it was good as new.
Good luck with yours.

Don't give your knife to people.

5 of 7 people to which i gave my previous liner lock folder (just a Boker Magnum, nothing special or expensive, but i realy like this knife) tried to close it as it was a slipjoint and one of them even did some throwing with it! (i saw him, but it was too late...the folder was already flying:-((()

Once i gave my Victorinox to a coleague at the university. He managed to cut one of his fingers. That hapened for a second only! I turned my back to him for a second only!!!

People just don't understand that these are not just knives... they are our precious tools.

This has been said more than once on this forum.

I loaned my Leek to my wife, and it came back with a ding. She was twisting it on something. That said, I'll bet your wife and your buddy think that Delica did a great job.

Those metal cored twist ties are death to edges, despite what some have said to me about it in the past (long story). A coarse DMT would work them out quickly, or the XX coarse DMT would work them out real quickly. If you want to go cheaper a hardware store X coarse stone will work fine for removing the chips as well. This would be a good time to rebevel to a more acute angle also if you desire. I would recommend under 15 per side for ease of sharpening and greater cutting ability.

I'm trying to figure out how to use my sharpmaker to make a 30 deg back bevel and a 20-25 deg micro bevel. anyone have any tips on rigging the sharpmaker for 20-25 deg?

Rubber band the top of the rods together, or put a rod under the center of the base to use as a fulcrum and lean the base to each side to reduce the angle.
