My new EDC

Well, the UPS man just left, but not before handing me a package with my name on it! :D I recently decided on purchasing another knife because I wanted to try something with S30V. I normaly carry an Ares or Delica depending on my mood but the knifebug bit me again so I decided to start looking into a new EDC. After searching around and reading a lot of reviews, I decided on getting a Rittergrip. I must say, I'm quite impressed. I love the blade shape, and it's just the right size. Not too crazy about the handles (plastic and a little on the light side), but I'm more concerned about function over form and I'm sure they'll hold up just fine. I'm really looking forward to giving the knife a good workout and seeing how this steel compares with what I'm used to. I'm already quite familiar with the AXIS lock, so I have no concerns there. The handle seems grippy enough to hold even if covered in oil, and the grooved thumb ramp compliments it perfectly. The only thing that took the wind out of my sails, was noticing a tiny chip in the blade edge. :( Very small, but it's there. Kind of a bummer. My question to anyone is, how brittle is S30V? Should I keep more of a utility edge (My preference anyway), or can this knife handle a nice thin edge? Either way, this knife is just begging me to use it! :D

I am very concerned that you received a RSK with "a tiny chip in the blade edge." This is totally unacceptable.

Please return it to us immediately and we will send out a replacement.

All I can say is...."Wow"! Your customer service is above and beyond excellent. I called and spoke with Lisa and Linda and explained the situation. I was not overly concerned with the chip, seeing as it would probably work itself out after a couple of sharpenings, but the great people at Aeromedix send they would get another one out, 2nd day shipped and even offered to cover the return shipping on the knife I received! If that's not great customer service, I don't know what is. To Brent, Lisa, and Linda: Thank you. I can't recommend you guys enough. :)

Well, since most of us already know that the RSK is one of the best kept secrets in the cutlery industry we don't need to say much about it, but as far as product support goes..... WOW! :D The folks at Aeromedix get a standing ovation. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Congrats on your new blade.

My RSK should be here Friday. I am very excited about it. It is also refreshing to see such excellent customer service. This just proves to me that I made a good purchase.

How does the thickness of the RSK compare to the delica?

edit: Handle thickness not the blade.

The Ritter's handle is about 1.5x thicker than that of the Delica, but it fits perfectly, and isn't too long. :) I really like it.

Shootist, my replacement should be here Friday also. :D I think you're gonna like it. I really don't even want to send this one back, I'm just dying to use it. I must say that Brent and the people at Aeromedix have a very satisfied customer on there hands.

Now if I could just get the service dept. here at my work to work as well as theirs........ ;) (holds breath....)

Edit:spelling

Other than the steel type and blade shape, how is the Ritter Grip different from the other grips?

I think those are the only differences but I could be wrong.

As far as I know, those are the only differences but it was those differences that made me want it. :)

I also believe the way they finished the blade was nicer than the other grips. The plain grips finish is nowhere near as nice as the RSK stonewashing.

Just curious, but what does your reply or your link have to do with this thread? And I don't see any Trolls in this thread unless I'm missing something. Perhaps with that high post count you just have to be involved in every thread??? I found this thread very informative and it gave me a great overview of how Aeromedix does business.

Start contributing a bit more than your grand total of 14 posts to this forum before you complain about my contributions.

Edit: removed because apparently I was wrong.

The handle was a big concern of mine with the Ritter Grip. It kept me from buying one for some time. Now that I've been using it as my EDC I have found it carries very well in my pocket, maybe more comfortable than my BM710. While the handle feels "cheap" at first, you'll get over it. It's actually nice that it helps lighten the knife. Some people say the knife is blade heavy but I find it's well balanced. I'm very happy with the Ritter Grip.

Aeromedix is the ONLY place that sells the Ritter, so I guess they'd know where the guy got it from.

There's been several examples of good service from aeromedix in the giant ritter grip thread in reviews forum, it's not unreasonable then to see a reply from them. In fact ifyou see aeromedix first posted asnd registered back in 2004 and made a series of posts about service.

I didn't know that, my apologies to MD13 and Brent Blue. It sounded very suspicious since unfortunately we've had the kind of "fake ID to promote a company" spam I suspected this to be before, I was probably a bit too sceptical. Sorry.
Looks like Mr. Blue's customer service is almost too good to be true!

No worries. :) I've been checking out this forum for a while now and just registered yesterday. I was really excited about my newest purchase and wanted to share that excitement. I was completely surprised to see Brents reply and was skeptical at first also, but after calling them back and speaking with them, everything got worked out. I was just really surprised to see that level of customer service and thought everyone should know about it. I'd also like to thank Wade. I read alot of his posts concerning the ritter, as well as many other members posts, and their reviews and opinions helped close the deal. All the members here are very helpful and knowledgable, and I'm glad I decided to register. :D
