My new EDC

I apologize for my delayed response, I have been at the NASAR (National Association for Search and Rescue) Conference and am just now catching up on some forum related reviewing, but I see that Brent has jumped on this issue. Some folks occasionaly question or complain about why I have this exclusive arrangement with Aeromedix, but this is a perfect example of one of the major reasons why. Between Benchmade's high production and customer service standards and Brent's own personal commitment to customer satisfaction, I don't ever have to worry about customer service that meets my own high standards. I want customers to be treated the way I would want to be treated.

In answer to some other questions in this thread, the four functional differences between the standard Grip and the RSK Mk1 are the blade shape, related edge geometry differences, CPM S30V steel and the heavy stonewashed finish. The handle and AXIS lock are pure unadulterated Griptilian.

Full information on the RSK Mk1 can be found at:http://www.dougritter.com/dr_rsk_mk1.htm

I sincerely appreciate all the kind words and support for the RSK Mk1 and I hope that some of the upcoming additions to the RSK line will be half as well received.

(Note that I will be at the Conference and offline for another day or so, so please excuse any delay responding to any response to this post)

Well, you picked excellent companies to collaborate with. I received my replacement today as promised, and I am extremely happy with it! Brent's customer service was beyond exceptional, and the knife itself is outstanding. Kudos to you.

Got mine yesterday. Here are my initial impressions:

Blade finish... love it. Stonewash is my favorite for a working EDC. I wish more companies would use it.

Blade/handle ratio... excellent. They fit as much blade as possible into the handle.

Fit & finish... very good. Locks up tight. Grinds are right on.

The knife opens a little "griity" but I suspect it will smoothen out with use. Most people, myself included, have said we prefer a different handle material. I would still like to see a version with g-10. I have been doing some research on Nortyl GTX and it seems to be a very tough polymer. It has been used in race cars. I think it will hold up just fine. I have a 550 griptillian that has seen a lot of use and the handles still look new.

All in all I think the Rittergrip offers a lot of value. It has an almost perfect balance of materials, fit/finish and price. I am glad I got one. It will get a lot of pocket time. It really is "everything you need and nothing you don't".
