My new favorite big busse!

Yeah of all the big ones, this is my favorite. I remember when will york got his nmfbm and had a fit. Which one do you like better will?

Hey Frank,

The ASHBM doesn't have the wallop of an NMFBM, which to me is a dedicated chopper/smasher by virtue of the drop at the handle and greater weight. But the lighter ASHBM's deep bite and greater speed might make it less tiring to use, blow-after-blow. And it's a little lighter to carry than the NMFBM and less awkward for conventional cutting work--the NMFBM can definitely be tedious to hold while performing delicate tasks.

For me, the ASHBM incorporates desirable elements from three other knives I love--the NMFBM, Basic 11 and FFBM.

Obviously it's not as light as the Basic 11, but it's almost as lively in hand with a deeper bite and is stronger by virtue of the spine thickness. I think I could break a Basic 11 given enough leverage--I could never break the ASHBM.

The ASHBM does come close to obviating the FFBM in my mind, because it should have comparable pry strength at the same spine thickness, with a little more length, a little more speed and lighter weight.

So am I gonna throw out the other three? No. But if it comes down to needing a big knife with maximum capability to carry on my person or in a pack, one that I absolutely do not believe I can break with arm strength alone, this would be the one. It absolutely has the best combination of weight (portability), strength and capability of any knife I own.

And it's INFI! What a concept! :)

Thanks for the input Will. I respect your knowlege and insight on these big ones. Heck. I think they'll be such a classic I got a green/black g10 on green and a black canvas on sage order in. Ha ha, has Lexi and pokey ever saw a busse pic that wasn't awesome and wonderful? One of these days I'd give anything to see them post " meh, didnt like this one or, this design sucks!"
Ha! Just kidding girls :)

WELL SAID!!!

At one point or another, I've had the all the different Mistresses ( except for the original SHBM) as well as the larger kin knives. I agree 100% with above stated assessment! Jerry and the Crew Knocked it out of the park with this one!

It's my favorite now, too.
Thank you for the summary, Will York! You saved me a lot of thinking and typing.
