I have a few pieces from CS such as the Trailmaster and the Spartan. They seem ok for the money. I don't prefer the marketing but that's just me. Gotta admit though, the pig decapitation was pretty nice though. ;)

And you're too stupid to realize that you don't need an extremely amazing steel to make a good knife. Aus8 and VG-1 are fine for me.
 
Am I the only one who thinks Cold Steel knives are horribly overpriced? A quick google reveals that it's about 350 dollars for the knife in that video! What justifies that kind of price on a production knife? Especially considering the steel used in it...!

So just what is going on here? As far as I'm concerned, CS is milking the undereducated masses for all they're worth. I'm looking at the "tacti-cool" crowd, to be specific. They do have a couple of fairly well designed knives, but the company itself is just so ridiculous, it's almost as if they're a parody of everything that is wrong in the world of knives.

Sorry if my opinion offends anyone, but... that video... I don't even know what to say, just wow. People can't seriously think that a fat dude in a tight shirt stabbing a pig carcass and cutting some rope, then smiling as if he just accomplished some great task, is "cool", can they? :confused:

for that price you can get a brand new busse BWM i would like to see that CS POS hold its own against a real chunk of steel!!!
 
Well I'm sure one thing we all agree on is that alot of CS's stuff is overpriced, just like that bowie in the OP. Sure, (WHY you would is beyond me) you could spend 350 on a cold steel or as theamazingdrrew said you could get a knife a whole lot better, but hey if the OP or iambored388 wants to spend money on coldsteel thats their decison.

Because perhaps another reason is that the quality of this knife is good for the OP or iambored388. Whilst I or I would think most people here wouldn't drop 350 on a coldsteel knife, these guys might find it be perfect for them.

@ NothingCoherent - who doesn't stab pig carcasses and cut large hanging pieces of rope on a daily basis, I might pick one of these up for the office, seems like it will be more than handy :D

and of course they trust a fat guy in a tight shirt, hes is "Mr Coldsteel" afterall....:barf: good to see his son? is getting involved, he'll be raking in the dollars for sure
 
Maybe they cost more because they're weapons rather than "knives," if you will. I don't think they have a video for anything they sell that says that the item isn't a weapon.

No, i 100% agree that this knife is overpriced along with many of their knives. I just really like the ones that are aroung $100 or less such as the recon 1 or spartan. Once you get over that mark w/ cold steel the value is pretty much shit.
 
hey you guys take it easy on the OP. you wouldn't know it, but he might often find himself being attacked bay hanging ropes, coins, phonebooks, and slabs of prime rib. so please don't attack a person just because you are jealous because you don't have his taste.

And Buck uses 420HC, Spyderco and Benchmade have used N690, Anza uses old files, Al Mar uses AUS-8, Schatt & Morgan use 420HC...what is your point? A quality treated, properly ground AUS-8 or VG-1 knife is more than capable of above average performance.

Really kids, aren't these Cold Steel bashing, character assassination threads getting a little old? A fellow likes his Cold Steel knives, as do I. Deal with it.
 
the overpriced knives are not so much the problem APF, I've got a recon 1 and I like it but what does it say of someone who buys into CS and Lynn Thompson's hype is, well juvenile.

Well, there is some truth to that alright. I guess that I just ignore the BS and yes, I'll be the first to admit that the vids are way over the top. There is one other problem I have with the vids though, the damn things always make me hungry. ;)
