There has been some vise threads lately and while this isn't a general purpose vise, it does make a nice little finishing vise. When I ordered it I thought it was mostly plastic but this baby is all metal and comes with jaw covers. I will be ordering another.

Not a bad looking little vise. Similar to a cheapy I bought at Menards a while back for about 20 bucks.

While I wouldn't use it to bend a blade over, it's worked like a charm for file work and other finishing practices...

the top plate that fits over the ball is sucked down with a tightning screw thats underneath, i've been using it for a week (just for finishing) and really do enjoy it very easy to move and adjust, and holds well.

Nice, I'll have to check that out. I too need a vice for handle finishing and would prefer a clamp on since my desk isn't perfectly smooth and the suction cup ones never stay in place very long.
ETA: wow, looked it up and you guys weren't kidding about a good price. Stanley quality, all or at least mostly metal, made in the US (maybe even locally for me) and almost exactly what I'm after, for $30? very cool.
