Thanks to Shing for the suggestion of using carbide cutter inserts. The crafstmanship is not the nicest I know but I sucked at this precision stuff. :(

Cool. We need to get one of our skilled members to make some of them and sell!!!!:D

Hey Pad, that suggestion that Shing made about using carbide inserts for a filing jig also inspired me to make one for myself. You did a real nice job on yours. Nice, sturdy and functional. If was a great idea so I hope to be done with mine tomarrow and I'll try and post some pictures of the finished product. I guess we owe Nick an atta boy for showing us a close up picture of one in use and therefore getting the ball rolling.

I have several blanks that are ready to file if you are chomping at the bit to try those out/

Luke, I can't wait to see pics of yours. I am sure it'll be nicer.

Keith, those are 3/8 cutters for my lathe.

BF, you can how it works in Nick's recent 'pics just cuz' thread.

ib2v4u, I will gracefully decline. Even if it works perfectly, I still hate filing. ;)

Thanks for the good words.

Nice, should make one for myself but I haven't worn out my current ones yet.

Alright here it is. Not the greatest pictures I know, and I appologize. Well the carbide inserts came from my work. They were just worn milling inserts (all I had). I just cemented them to the jig. The next one I make I'm gonna mill a slot for the inserts to sit in, but I hope this one works for now:D. I should have a chance to try this out tomarrow before the game :):).

Very nice Luke. I also thought about milling a slot but since I still don't have a mill...:(

Thanks for sharing.

Here's one I made recently from aluminum stock with carbide inserts for a wear face.
