Hey guys, this is a W.I.P. that I cheated at a little. I saved all the photos till I got it finished so I can post them all here at once! lol!
To begin with, This was going to be a 50# tire hammer, but we saw the guys over at mad dwarf workshop using their modified logsplitter to make blades with...and I had to have one! Anyway most of this stuff we already had on hand, or scrounged for. My total cash outlay for a 24 ton Forging press is $315.00
It involved utilizing almost EVERY single piece of machinery in our shop. From a lowly chop saw, to the biggest lathe and mills we have. a word of caution though, THIS IS NOT A BEGINNERS PROJECT! anyway on to the pics...
I sourced this 24' x 1/4" x 3.5" x 5" Cambria I Beam from a good friend of mine who while remodeling her house found this in the roof over her porch.
Here is a 14' piece getting cut into 2 - 72" lengths.

This is my Dad welding the 1.0625" x 8" square "H" bar in He's the chief welder/machinist in our shop, the other vertical is being cut as this was taken.
Both Verticals in the process of being installed. Thats a furniture clamp up top to keep the spacing the same from top to bottom. And my son handing his papaw a rod...
