Just wanted to say hello and I got my g10 in yesterday, so the blade swap went along as planned. S110v blade and g10 body. Now to keep an eye out for custom scales!
I know the zip tie detracts from it but, oh well.

There's some Allen Putman scales in stock on BHQ right now if you're interested!!

And nice mod! I was handling the S110V Manix the other day and it was a nice knife but lacks the heft of the G-10 so this is an awesome fix to that

Yep, going to use that as either a loaner or ???. Though I do plan on keeping it.

I personally don't get the zip tie mod. I've never had trouble getting my thumb into that giant hole, but maybe some dudes have skinny thumbs?? No idea.

I'm getting ready to send my S110V Manix 2 to Big Chris for a re-grind. Not sure if it's an option, but I'm thinking of making it a sabre grind like the original Manix 2s...?

When seconds count and you are being rushed by a coked up gang of cardboard have the ability to wave a knife might save your life

Since I wear cut resistant gloves or chain mail gloves it can be an annoyance to keep taking them off to open a box if I don't have a box cutter available. It is off atm since I twisted it down for the pic, it loosened when I displaced it from its initial setting.

I was thinking of waving it and rounding the spine, but we will see.

Thanks for the compliments folks. I know it is personal preference but I can't think of anything that I liked more on the original s110v than on this version. We will see what the summer brings...

Ah, ok, so it's more like a poor man's Emerson wave rather than extra real estate for your thumb.
Gotcha.

Tapatalk is messing with me and wont let me post pics or id show you my waved pm2. Took me like 5 minutes with a grinder and my kows. Since we are both in nj if you want to check mine out let me know :thumbup

Yep.
As far as the saber grind goes, I don't know if the stock is thick enough for that. You Might be able to manage it if you have it reground and thinned behind the edge, though I don't know how susceptible it would then be to increased likelihood of damage. If you could manage it, you would most likely end up with one of the more slicey spyderco's around.

did you just drill out the stop pin rivets on the FRN handle then pry out the blade? Is there an easy way to replace that stop pin to put the FRN handle back together for the other blade?

Yep.

That's what I'm hoping for, but I gotta check with Big Chris and see if he has the appropriate hardware to do a sabre / hollow grind.
He's been doing some pretty awesome work on Manix 2's lately... :)

Mine With some Putnam scales.

Drill out all of the pins taking care not to damage the frn, if you wish to reuse them with the s30v, or donor knives steel. Aside from the s110v blade, you will use everything from the g10 body, the pivot, hardware, spring, liners, bearing and carrier (though you can use the black one from the s110v lw manix 2 if you would prefer that over the clear).
I believe there are disassembly/reassembly vids on YouTube. Though if you are in any way mechanically inclined, you shouldn't need to watch them.
Good luck and keep us informed.
