I like it a lot. VERY solid. I got lucky on the thicker stag. Fits my

hand just right

41dude that furtaker trapper is a new release which i got about 3 weeks ago. they sure are beauties & built like a vault. that big wharnecliff would be perfect for slicing the skin on catfish.

Thanks for posting the great pics. I never knew it had an indentation to allow easier access to the nail nick.

Great Burnt Stag on that one too BTW.

That is some very decent stag on your knife, it seems to me that of all manufacturers, GEC knives are shod with the best stag.

Nice knife! y'know, I was thinking of getting one of those, and your pics pushed me over the edge. Now I am off to place an order! Congratulations, btw.

We've probably beat this dead horse enough on that other thread "GEC Nailbreakers", and I'm firmly in the camp that thinks the springs are too stiff on most GEC's. Having said that, these Furtaker Trappers have been on my radar screen since they came out, and this thread IS NOT helping my resistance to buying one! ;)

I'm guessing they have half stops (correct?), and now for the inevitable question: How are they to open? Specifically, how do they compare to a #73 Scout for ease of opening, or lack thereof? Thanks for any and all comments!

BTW .41Dude, nice, nice looking piece of steel & stag! :D

Thank you for the kind words :D

But I have to tell you (and I was surprised) NO half stop.

Much easier than my 73. My son (today) is the new owner of my stag 73.
I am keeping my smooth bone 23.

And not kidding. MUCH EASIER than any other GEC I have handled.

Honestly, I am so thrilled with it I am looking to get another stag Furtaker while they are available. Even though I will be eating Spam for a while.

Haha.

I got to handle a few of these furtaker trappers and muskrats at the Pasadena knife show, and I really like them. If I weren't about to lose my job I would have taken one home with me.

DAM_! ..... I'm sorry to hear that! ........ No wait, I'm glad to hear that! You may have just given me the push I needed (or didn't need ;))! At any rate, thanks for the help (I think)! :D

All kidding aside, that is a great looking knife, and I thank you my friend for the pictures and the great first-hand information! Now where did I put my Spam?

Oooops, SORRY ;)

I just purchased last week from knifeswapper

http://www.collectorknives.net/

the 73 I was talking about. Now it is my son's favorite stag.

Wow. New record for me. I did not have it for a week. :D

My son IS NOT getting the Furtaker (yet)

I was on the fence regarding this pattern.

Now I like it Muy Mucho, its on the list of "going to gets"

Thanks guys, SPAM for me too.

Yeah, but think of the gorgeous new knives you'll be using to slice the Spam...;)

:D

I just pulled the trigger on a Yellow Rose Furtaker Trapper from Mike at collectorknives.net. :D

My next stop tomorrow morning is to buy some stock in Hormel - should be a good investment considering how much Spam is going to be eaten as a result of this thread! ;)

I have a Tidioute one with the Burnt Sky acrylic handles. My only complaint is that the wharncliffe blade sits too far out from the handle when closed... but I end up using it more than the clip point, so it's not a very big complaint. Nice pattern and knife.

Thanks, I think.

Picked up one in the pimped out red acrylic. Should be easy to find if I drop it.

Woohoo, just ordered one in eggs and hotsauce color. Tango model with the guitar. Thanks for the inspiration :D

That is a beauty. I'm sooo jealous! Now I have yet another knife to add to the forever growing want list. Thanks a lot man. :D

Whole lot of new knives going on here! .41Dude, see what you've started? :D

Spam in the morning, Spam in the evening, Spam at suppertime.
