My new Hawk clip

Thank you for posting this clip idea! I had forgotten about it since the last thread started a few years ago, and this pushed me to call CRK to purchase a Hawk clip to try on my Large 21 and Umnumzaan. If I like it on both, I'll pick up another so that they're both covered.

A question for anyone who has tried this on either of these knives -- since it has more tension, does it seem to have any effect on the lockup/engagement, or the force it takes to unlock the knife?

Cheers!

Nice clip. Might have to get one someday for my small 21. I have noticed over time that the factory clip will tear the the jeans. Jeans are not cheap!

I didn't notice any difference in lockbar tension with the tighter Hawk clip. And yes, my jeans pockets are starting to tear and fray where I carry my knife, so maybe this new clip will help preserve some denim strings.

I appreciate your reply to my potential concern. All of my jeans are taking a shredding at the corner of the right front pocket from my current Sebenza and Umnumzaan. I carried a Large Micarta 21 for the earlier months of this year, and I don't think that was quite as rough. The wear seems to be accelerating lately. :) I'll report back my impressions once I have it installed and tested.

I also like the hawk clip on the 25. The only reason I don't carry it that way is I only have the one that came with my Ti-Lock, and the Ti-Lock really needs that Hawk clip, simply to complete its weird/quirky/cool appearance. The normal CRK clip works on the Ti-Lock, but I don't feel it suits it's character.

What would be super rad......I mean totally amazing.....would be if CRK offered a version of the Mnandi stile machined clip to fit the Sebenza line. That would really dress things up. :)

doesn't tear up the pockets due to being able to squeeze it loose!

I don't think inserting and removing the knife is what does most of the damage to the pocket. It's the side-to-side rubbing when it's in the pocket all day, moving around. Looking at the third pic, the part that will ride the pocket edge looks quite rough - IMO that should be nice rounded off. With all the attention to detail on the knives themselves, I'm surprised the clip is left so rough in that critical area.

It's the bead blast underneath the clip at two contact points, against the bead blast of the handle that eats your pocket up!

I noticed clip-wear on the top edge of the pocket - where the edgy part of the clip -any clip- will rub. '99 Sebenza in my case.

Well, let us know in a couple of months how it's working out.

I can just see it now, aftermarket pocket protectors for knife carriers!
