Range Report:

I am done cleaning my little Model 60 and I'm very satisfied with how it performed at the range. I put 75 rounds of assorted rounds through it and all grouped nicely. These included:

PMC 158gr. Jacketed Soft Point
Federal 125gr. Hydrashock Jacketed Hollow Point
Buffalo Bore 180gr. Heavy .357 Hard Cast

Recoil is totally manageable even with full house .357 magnum rounds. There is no comparison with the lighter weight torturous scandium J frames. While Smith and Wesson representatives say the Scandium J frame is carried a lot and shot little, I can't recommend the same. A carry gun must be practiced with and practice won't happen if it is painful and unpleasant. This model 60, with its all steel construction, dampens the recoil and makes follow up shots easy. After this day at the range, my shooting hand isn't throbbing and I would gladly put another volley of rounds down range if I had more time, ammo and nothing else to do this afternoon.

Single action shots were incredibly accurate and most of mine were within the 10 and 9 ring at 7 yards. Double action was less accurate because of the heavier pull but still within the pie plate sized target. The 158gr. bullets were the best performers but the 125 Hydrashocks were easiest to keep on target fastest and with the most acceptable accuracy.

Overall, this is a great little carry gun. Paired with a couple Bianchi Speed Strips loaded with snakeshot, hollowpoints and hard cast rounds, there is hardly a task or target this revolver can't handle.

The 60 is a J Frame. It is a 5 shot revolver.
