CUSTOM WHARNIE!!! :D;)

I was trying to keep quiet around here just so I could just drop this MASTERPIECE on my boys when they least expect it!! :p. Anyway onto the knife, that is the best knife I have ever laid eyes on, or now have the pleasure of owning. It is a whole different level IMO. I'm not sure if the pivot was ever loosened or what, but honestly, this thing FRIGGIN FLIIIIIES out with the baaabiest flick. Detent is good, but its like you could blow on it and deploy it lighting fast, thats how responsive this holy piece of grailage is, its PERFECT. The satin...the grind, the build, lockup, centering...not to mention probably the NICEST Hinderer carbon fiber scale I have ever seen. This wharnie is honestly amazing and everything I would dream of in an rhk custom grail. Major major attention was put into this knife (duhh, its an XM! lol) you can see ricks/robs (prob techs too!) Blood sweat n tears in this fine Hinderer custom Wharncliffe.

I can't say much, but I believe she's this smooth out of the box, she seems BNIB. The seller is a great guy for workin w me on this one, being super patient while i sold off my old knives, how cool is that?? and even letting it go! I get it now. To my understanding, this was not a knife that was up for any lottery...unless you count me, because I feel like a winner! YYEAAAH! (80s movie jump in the air karate kid freeze frame getting held up by a crowd holding the wharnie, I mean trophy! :p:D)

You guys I know its hard to shell out major dough for customs, but if your thinking of selling other knives (if worth money) ..if your on the fence about it, even ALITTLE, just do it. TRUST ME! QUALITY over quantity! I'm not very well off financially by any means, atleast not stable, im in my late 20s. if i didnt have a worthy collection to sell i wouldnt have been able to swing half of it right now. All Im saying is if you would have told me I was going to own THIS knife 3 weeks ago.. HAH! I would have laughed and said get outta heeere! So I just want you guys to know it's possible...just be on the hunt and be patient!..but I used to collect microtechs before I ever saw or really knew of an XM...so I sold off 5-6 microtechs that weren't getting used whatsoever, and now I have this amazing knife. Like, I dont even know how much better it could possible get! Except maybe hellfire or xm24 tanto proto!! :D:D

Funny thing is, the bar is set hiigh now in my collecting! Gonna take much planning and saving before you boys see any new ones outta me! My knife fund was tapped before spearpoint!! Im sorry for all the blabbin and blabbin fellas, you can imsgine how excited i am, im sure plenty of you know! :)Don't regret a SINGLE penny. Enjoy the pics guys.

Please, if anyone has any hand ground wharnies they wanna share here, I would love to see them! Thanks! Enjoi!!:)...

HOLY SMOKES Boy does MR H do absolutely STUNNING GRINDS..Betcha he doesn't drink coffee before he does these....

Congrats my brotha

Congratulations buddy! I'm really happy for you. That is one heck of a knife. Absolutely stunning. I hope to see it in person someday soon. Great pics as usual also! Enjoy.

You have scored big time ! That is an absolutely beautiful knife, those grind lines are incredible. Major congrats ! BTW nice pictures and thanks for sharing with us.

Fantastic knife. I've really come to love the Wharncliffe grind. That CF isnt so bad either...

Congratulations CDF!!

Sexy!

Nice Hinderer in so many ways. I'm a bronze ano. fan.

I have to admit after reading your story that it has me thinking. I don't sell off too many things but when you think it through...I have knives by other makers that I'd give up for a custom Hinderer. So I understand.

Congratulations Cooldaddy!! That is one amazing example of a great/beautiful knife!!

I bet you can't stop fondling that beauty!!! :)

That knife is stunning. I have been looking at customs more and more, but still have not pulled the trigger. Being 18 and in college does not help. Just the idea of spending that amount on a knife.....but then I always am able to justify it some way to step up into the next level of knives. I started with budget Kershaws years ago and have graduated to Spydercos then Benchmades; and to the current level that I am stuck at right now is production midtech or high end production. (Mainly Microtech, HTM, still no Sebenza yet.)

Great story for you man, the grinding is absolutely gorgeous and the carbon fiber is excellent looking as well. Very few people do not like Carbon Fiber and for a good reason it is just cool looking and lightens the weight.

Congrats my brotha

Yes he does (stunning grinds), the wharnie is an amazing grind and yes he does (drink coffee before he does these). I have seen Rick insist on some coffee before getting started grinding and he drank coffee before, during and after grinding. I am pretty sure he is immune to any negative effects of coffee and is only refueled by coffee.

Congrats on the beautiful knife Jason.

Congratulations! "Excited" is something you will be every time you look at that knife.

Congrats CFD!! The grind on that is simply amazing, a work of art indeed!

Aww man thanks for all the kind feedback! Many more pics to come!! Ever since the production wharnies have been showin up, I HAAAD to have one! Thanks again man! You know who you are! ;) ...certainly a fine fine memeber here! :d

Thanks again guys!!

N2K...just friggin do it. Rubi is right...every time I even THINK about it now I get all warm n fuzzy inside!

Franz - I love that working finish on yours! I really have to get myself a working finish XM or fixed blade, I haven't even gotten a chance to see working finish in person yet! Ill prob. Be getting another nice custom within the next six months...but this baby and the spearpoint before reallycset me back. I do need to ti scales, and 3.5 ano stand offs, and handle nuts, all and more smooth carbon fiber scales!

But what I REEEALLY need for my 2 3.5 customs are some brass, bronze (standies n lbs), and anodized hardware!

More pics tomorrow guys, some goood ones! :D

Thanks again yall!! ; )

One more reason to respect the man!

This wharni is gorgeous. I've yet to handle a Hinderer warni, but I imagine they do the near impossible- make what normally feels like a snap happy grind feel rugged and useful.

Every time I see those pictures and of course other custom grinds it blows me away. I have been making knives as a hobby for many years, so when I see the flawless grind lines and bevels he grinds I am totally amazed. Rick has got to have calibrated eyeballs to create such beautiful work. I have the utmost respect for the man and his work !
