Thats right I finally got that one finished up. As some of yall have read, it was my grandpas hunting knife back when he was younger and it was made in Germany around WWII. When I received it from him the blade was all blacked and pitted and the german silver guard was in bad shape and the pommel was not in good shape either. I reworked the blade after grinding down passed the pitting and also replaced the german silver pommel and guard with brass and the leather stacked handle with linen micarta. Instead of the pommel being oval shaped I kept it round. I still have a few touch ups to do but I can do them at work during my free time (I work the tool room on the night shift at a petroleum company and its slow). So what do yall think? If you have questions as to what I used or what I did feel free to ask.

Thanks. It has a lot of sentimental value for me since I was very very close to my grandpa and he was my father figure since I was 4 years old. I grew up only 3-4 miles from him and visited him a lot. He passed away December 5th, 2006. I'm going to be working on making a commemorative key chain from the few leather disks I was able to save as well as the original pommel. Going to get a piece nickel silver and after shaping it I'm going to get it engraved with his name and dates on one side and on the other a picture of him. He meant the world to me and taught me a lot.

Thanks. To be honest this is the best work I have ever done and with the most attention to detail with best fit and finish. I would like to thank Les George for allowing me to use his bandsaw and drill press on the micarta and for soldering on the guard.

Nice restoration of a hierloom piece. It will be in the family forever. Use it and enjoy the memories each time you do.

Thanks Dad. I know it ain't up to your standards but it works for me for a good hunting knife that I would carry every day.
