My new JK Friction Folder WIP/ Done!

I got the stop pin set and did a sanding up through 400 grit and a buff this morning. Now I gotta just check it over and make mental notes of any final touch ups I want to do after the blade assembly. I love the way this Paperstone reveals its secrets when brought up to a gloss.
A huge Thank You to Pertinux for furnishing me with the pieces of material that I have to play with :)

^ Comparison shot with a Buck Ranger ;) ya know, for scale purposes :)

Tah Dah!

At some point I will reduce the tang length, but for now I'm going to go get a piece of vinyl tubing that fits it tightly.
Thanks for following along. This was fun :)

John, I must say a Huge Thank You !!!

This blade is a great one, and you were very kind and generous working with me on this order, it all worked out quite well for me and I hope it did for you as well.

P.S. anybody recognize the blade shape??? ;)

Awesome!I'm not a fan of blue, but that paperstone's marbled look sure is nice.
I cut my tang down to where it just hits the stop pin & it works great like that.No problems with it wanting to closeup when whittling or opening boxes & I do quite a bit of whittling with it on my breaks.(Just making fuzz sticks & points)
I don't know why they are made with such a long tang.
I also ground a bevel on the end to use for prying or as a screw driver.

Thanks a lot guys! I am really loving this thing already :D

I went rummaging through my kite building supply box and found these hard rubber fittings, they are from an umbrella that I scavenged parts from. The V kind of hangs on the edge of my shorts pocket keeping the knife vertical in my pocket...it holds tight enough that I would feel comfortable suspending it from a lanyard with this fitting.

oh yeah, here is a pic from JK's 2013 list of where this one was inspired from ;)

Agreed!

This time through, I especially like this view of the material:

Wow, that looks incredible! Great job, love the paperstone...

Thanks guys, and gal :)
This thing is incredible. Johns grind on this blade are perfect. Razor sharp from the get go! I have made hundreds of cardboard slices, went to town on some pine, and she is still slicing away. I liked this blade shape so much I ordered another:D The Semi Wharncliffe would make a great work knife and for me is a perfect all around blade. My hat is off to whomever designed this one!

Update, after carrying and using the heck out of this thing I finally settled on a tang length. I went for pocket ability on this one as the blade is held rather securely open by the friction on the tang. Blade can be rotated about 90 percent open with thumb action and the first cut sets it solidly into full open. Knife can be closed with thumb rotation or a swipe on the back of the blade with my thigh. This is one sweet cutter:)
