Don had a good suggestion re: survival cards. There is also a deck of cards of edible wild plants (by Linda Runyon IIRC) and also one of knots. Not a recommendation, just additonal options.

I know a few knots, Blowline etc. It's good knowledge to have for sure. And it never hurts to have a reminder either. Edible wilds would be a great thing to know as well, maybe with NON-edible wilds as well. Don't want to turn out like poor Chris McCandless.

I think people are so caught up in the dream of being an expert that they forget something very important...they're still a good ole regular human being. Twist your ankle and shear off a little piece of bone in there (had it happen), slip and partially dislocate your knee and have it pop back in almost instantly (had it happen), fall down and get a egg-sized knot on your head (had it happen). Any number of things can happen and a lot of the info you have stored in your brain might not be as easily retrieved as you think. Pain and being stunned, all of these things. little deck of survival cards is a good reminder! There are other little reminder cards like that but don't have the playing cards. Little survival manuals like the SAS Essentials by Barry Davies...
