Hi all I just finished this up to day and thought I would post a pic of it.
the knife I made has a 4.5" long by 1/8" thick blade and has a 4.25" long handle. with Orange G-10 for the scales of course. ;)
so far it cuts cheese and sausage just fine I wittled up a fuzz stick earlyer and thought yea it will do fine for that to LOL
I think it might work ok as a wilderness survival knife or even a bushcrafter type knife to LOL.

Well here is the pic.

I also finished these today too. The first pic is of a knife I do not even have a name for yet so I will just call it a ( B.S.K.---Breeden Simple knife) for now. LOL It has a 3.75" long by 3/32" thick blade and a 4" handle with osage wood for the scales. Brass pins.

The next one is a CUB knife and is the first one I have ever put on Marroon canvas micarta scales. I think it is a neat color. It is a 4" long by 5/32" thick blade with a 4.75" long handle. The sheath is a horizontal type for right or left side carry.

Anyways thanks for looking.

That looks pretty useful.

Hey Brian, I just saw and handled a cool knife of yours. It struck me as odd, as I am accustomed to your knives being about 1/8ths thick(which I love). This was a very cool Pathfinder at about 3/16ths thick!!!!

It cut great and felt like great. I still liked my pathfinder in 1/8th thickness better though:D

Nice Knives Bryan,

I still have to get around to posting pics of the two you sent me, I am probably going to go camping tomorrow and use them a bit, although the smaller one has seen quite a bit of general around the house utility use.

Hi all,

LOL Rockywolf just let me know and I will be gald to make you one. LOL
I am hoping to have another one roughly like this one same blade shape but made out 3/32" thick steel but with just a little differently shaped handle.
I am thinking of put the cocobolo wood scales that I have on that one.
I am really liking the 4.5" blade for kitchen work so far. Kathy's 4" one is just a little to small for my liking. I know that E Kreps said that he thought a 4.5" long blade was what he prefered. Now I now why LOL

EmsRG Glad to here you are going to get out and use them knives. Yea that little one I made you I liked the feel of it so much I made my self up one to.
LOL just for fun I used it last weekend at my uncles for cutting up some sauage and cheese. It is a very people freindly blade ( just what every guy wants to here about his " O that is cute knife " one lady said ) LOL
that is the way it goes I guess. LOL

WOW TonyM that is neat I only made 4 pathfinders in 3/16" thickness. Glad to hear it is still being used LOL yea I like the 1/8" better to

Longbow, richard, Stockman, and the rest of ya thanks again for the kind comments. on the knives I made.

Well chat with you all later,

Bryan

Bryan, nice stuff as always. What do you like doing better, solid pins or hollow pins on the handles?

Nice looking knives Bryan and good shots. The maroon mircata handle looks really neat!

Hi all,

IUKE12 I really like the the first two pins solid and then having a tubin landyard hole. I started using tubing pins for the knives that I make
but when I made the first one with 2 solid and the one tubing I like that look better. Just me though some like all tubing and some want all solid and then some want a mixture of them.

Kgd thanks yea that is the second Marron handle that I have done for a customer getting ready to do a third in the next week or so. It really has a neat look the pics do not do it justice I think. Well that and my camera skills LOL a little on the well you know LOL

Thanks Mike.

Bryan

Hey Bryan, have you ever considered making a camp/kitchen blade like that with the blade edge dropped a bit at the choil to make it easier to cut stuff on a cutting board/stump, or whatever? Some of favorite "all-arounder" knives are set up so that you can use the whole length of the blade without rapping your knuckles when cutting up some onions, potatoes and chiles for a meal. Apologies if I'm not being clear, but I'd love one of your knives like the first post in orange G-10, same overall blade shape, except something more like this one for the choil:

Just curious, I think it would be a sweet kitchen/camp knife!

Mike Fitz yes I have done some like. Just a couple though I have another knife I am going to make but it has a little differently shaped handle and it is a lot like the what you are talking about when it is done I will post a pic of it. I am going to make it out of 3/32" thick. It will be 4.5" long for the blade and from the plunge line going towards the tip before it starts the upswept part will be 1.5" wide for 2.5". I have been thinking about making one with a 6" blade too. I plan to start on it in the morning.
Any ways yea rapping the knucks stinks LOL. With the one that I just finished on friday so far the way the handle is I have not had that happen yet.
That is a good thought/question on your part. Way to go Mike.

Any ways I will post a pic when I am done.

Bryan

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with Bryan! Might be a popular design, I love a good camp kitchen knife, and it should work out well for a bushie as well. A 6" version sounds interesting as well!

Hi Mike yea I like the 6" blade length to and have ordered some more 3/32" thickness steel and when it comes in I am going to see what it will be like with a blade length like that to. That one might just get the orange scales on it. the one I am going to start on in the morning is going to get the cocobolo wood scales I have. you talking about now has got me ready to go in the shop and start on it now LOL my watch says 6:44 pm Ah heck I am going to I will post a pic around 7: 15 Pm if you are still on the forums.

Bryan

One thing I might recommend as well is to taper the front of the scales down to make it more comfortable to choke up on. Good stuff Bryan!

Hi Mike I already had the steel blued so I just drew my pattern and then cut the blank then over to the grinder, shaped it and then drilled the pin holes. here is a couple pics.
yea I agree with what you said about the handle shaping.
