My new kitty is wild wild.

Mike,

I'm glad he saw the light too. Just the fact that he behaved like a total as$ made me make sure I do tameshigiri right where he can see too.:D Getting better at doing the "pickle chip" trick.

Kyle,

So did the little ball of fur come back yet? Just wanting to know...

As an update, though I haven't been able to spend much time with the kitten - Linda tells me she is slowely coming around. Getting closer and more often. Tomorrow evening I will be there for the night. I'll take my digital and try to get a couple good shots. You guys have given me lots of good hope and I am going to remain stubborn about making this a nice cat for us. As soon as I can get my hands on her she's coming to daddy's house for a while.

We've been fortunate with neighbors. I can not recall a problem over the years we had our last cat (Fluffy). The only real problem I can remember is having to come to terms with a dog owner that walked their dog and didn't seem to mind it chasing our cat in her own yard. I settled that the first time I noticed it happening. Most people can be delt with if it is called to their attention. Others need to be delt with like Mike Hull needed to.

Hi Everyone,

Nice cat stories. My wife and I have five of our own, even though I am very allergic to cats. I've had two doctors tell me to get rid of the cats and I replaced them - the doctors, not the cats.

We just had a cause for celebration. One of our cats, Merlin, was a little stray we picked up on the street. One day he slipped out of the house and went for a walkabout. We would let him out occasionally, but he always stayed in our yard and came running when we would call. This time we called and called, but he never showed up. We spent two and half months putting up wanted posters, visiting cat shelters, and putting ads in the local paper. Finally a neighbor from a few blocks away called and said she thought he was mixed in with some strays she was feeding. She brought him over and he ran from room to room checking out his favorite spots. I swear I saw a look of relief on his face. We think he ducked into the storm drain for a bit of adventure and got lost. He's smart, but has a poor sense of direction. Now he stays closer to home.

Roger,

Good stuff with the kitten coming around.

I've had my bro almost chased down by two dogs, but then I almost ran them down with my khukuri after I saw them. Never heard my bro scream "Oh $hit!" that many times before!:D Pets big enough to be a legit threat to a neighbors safety should be tethered in some way, so that they can wander a reasonable distance without jumping the fence.

Joe,

That's one hell of a cat story, good thing you found him. He learned a thing or two in the process....

Some few years back ours disapeared also. Seems like for about a month. One evening while I was burning trash out back I looked around and she was sitting on the back porch staring at me. She had a scratch or two and looked like she had not eaten well but okay besides that. She never disapeared again so long as she lived.

EDIT: When I say she's coming around; she still won't let anyone touch her. May take a good while longer.

What's this - a cat thread with no pics? Here's one of mine:

Thanks for all the great stories guys.

The cat hasn't come back yet. I found a small puddle of antifreeze just outside our garage, I think it leaked from my sister in laws car. I talked to a vet and apparently cats like antifreeze just as much as dogs do, and it is even more deadly to cats. I am guessing my cat licked some up, and is now dead. So I guess it is time to start looking for a new kitten.

Yes, two teaspoons and up is 100% deadly. Sorry for your loss.

There is antifreeze now that isn't Ethylene glycol based. A bit more expensive if I remember right, but worth it if ya think pets might get around it.

Problem with the EG is that while it's very poisonous to pets, it has a sweet taste, so animals lick it right up. common treatment for coyotes in various parts of the country is to put out meat soaked in ethylene glycol
