this arrived today from David Yellowhorse

my wife said "Now that it is jest gorgeous, he does beautiful work"
and thinks it is now the most beautiful knife i have ..

it is one of a custom set of 5 of Afghanistan Lapis from the badlands
which is why the mountains on the bolsters ..
i only got the one the other 4 are spoken for already
ohen cepel gets three and bucksway gets 1
what do you think, is the wife right?

I like it alot dave but I think you'll have to send em all to me so I can scrutinize if this is the nicest or not:p

If you wife says its best, its ok by me:)

Can't see it.

I think we need a translator for the pictures.

Are you taking pictures with that 1981 cell phone again?

Or you're putting us on again?

Or what?

Anything is possible with Dave.

:)

I like it. His own custom stuff does seem to be his best. His production stuff (1 of 100 or 1 of 250, etc) looks more pedestrian, but this really looks nice.

Wow Dave,That is a beautiful 110!You're wife is right.I'm a big fan of David Yellowhorse & family. They make some real works of art.

i have you know that cell phone works jest fine
{{long as the antenna is fully extended to 12 inches}}
on the old network we have here
i use the newer y2k OK phone for were the old towers have been replaced ;)

Well, about all I can see is that it has the BOS mark and is S30V and has some Dremel-doodling on the bolsters. Is the blade sprayed with gold plating???

I can't see what's on the blade or really tell much about it at all.

But if you like it I'm sure it's very nice.

:)

the bolsters are done in a mountain motif as that is ware
the GI that got the lappis was stationed in the badlands ..
the not quite Gem Quality Lappis inlays have specks of
fool's gold dispersed in it
the blade is a now rare custom marked s30v drop point with Bos stamp
it is not mirror polished but is buffed to a smooth reflective surface
it carries David Yellohorse's Flaming Horse Logo and signature,
marked simply Custom, this is how he ID's the work that is one off and not market driven
that custom mark of his is reserved for personally customized knives..
as all the knives were going to GI's he was very glad to do this custom work..
i will try to take better pictures if i can find a Polaroid some place ;)

i have permision to show some one elses knives !
here is the back side of my new yellowhorse they all have this

they all are custom stamped blades Including the 112's!!!!

and here is the rest of the story on these one off customs..
.this started with discusson with Ohen Cepel
while he was stationed over there in the bad lands and he said of
trying to get a sonevener for the time there and said of the blue Lapis stone
hummmm…
i called Dave Yellowhorse and asked if he would do some knives
for some GI's that were over seas and he said yes.
Ohen was thrilled and went to a bizarre in Afghanistan and
had the raw Lapis cut to size by a rock cutter.
I sent the stone to Dave … well when he started work
Dave found he needed to buy some new equipment
Then worked some more then had to get other supply's
in order to finish the stone..it was a big effort on his part also
During this time bucksway and i asked if no one was speaking for two sets
could we have them for a knife for us as we both are retired navy {so still GI's}
O.C. said that was ok with him as one did drop out..
Well the knives arrived yesterday and
I don’t know what the bill will be yet as it was not in the box!!!!

My thanks to 110Dave for doing the leg work on this while I was gone! I should have the ones for me and my buds in the next few days. Really looking forward to seeing them in person.

Took a lot of searching to get the lapis there and for the man to understand just how large I needed the slabs cut. Was a lot of starts and stops since I would be gone for weeks to other parts of the country and couldn't always link back up with him to inspect them/pay for them.

Paid one guy up front for some of them only to never see him again. Not sure what happened to him or the payment. He may still be looking for me with the slabs, never know.

This forum and many of the members were a real help to me while I was gone, part of my connection back to the world and great to have someone like 110Dave and Dave Yellowhorse to go out of their way to help some Soldiers.

Thanks!
