my mistake - I was thinking this was your price range -

If I make it in either CPM S30-90V the price would be between 200-300. The material is expensive and so is the heat treating as I have to send them to a speciality facility. They will be waterjet cut and hand polished.
I may also offer the knife in D2 with a smaller price tag of around $150.

That was the range I was thinking of when considering using CPM S3V and S9V. I've since decided to come down some. The knife is a really comfortable design and will look super once the holes are cut and the handles and sheath added to the photos. As always the exact price will varry from one knife to the next as each customer will want something different.

Still, do some reading on different makers and what the price range is.
I see you were looking at Greco's stuff. He is one maker who has some of the lowest prices because he gets them mass produced in a mid tech fashion.

There are alot of talented guys out there making nice products who put in alot of time. I just dont see that time put in on this particular knife design to merit more than $50 dollars, shipped.

My first knives were not much more than $50 dolalars and that was 4" blade, leather hand stitched sheath, and a handle..........hand shaped, and that takes as long as grinding the blade.

Anyway - you asked for opinions so theres mine.

Good luck friend. Time for bed in my house.........micarta dust to get to tomorrow :)

I fashioned this knife out of scrap D2 that was already hardened as I have no heat treat facilities myself. I know it takes a long time, it was two hours to grind each side of the main blade and double that just to get the minimal polish on there. I have looked at a lot of similar sized knives for judging price. I found that some are much more expensive than what I plan to charge and some are half the base $80 pricetag. I also found some sites that sell knives for 4x as much as I am asking with about the same size blades and a different steel. I feel once the handle holes are cut and handle scales are added and the sheaths are molded the $80 is a resonable price. Oh yeah, where can you get D2 that cheap?

This style is not my cup of tea, but I think you're doing a good job with it. And I like the improvements you've incorporated into this version of the design. Nice work!

Thank you, I'm a lot happier with it as it is now than it's previous incarnation as well. It's going to look great when finished.

It's not a bad price...what a lab rat? :D I'd carry and use one for you for six or seven months, and if it's well made I'll buy it at the end.

All I ask is you make it a bit different i.e. dull finish;440C;G-10 scales...
Just e-mail me.

One question...how hot did it get when you made it? If it was prehardened.....you could have killed the temper.

Also, Deposit?? the steel for each knife only cost you $9.75. No disrespect but a deposit is something asked when knifematerials put you in the hole.

It was a joke, I'm not about to send someone a knife to play with for half a YEAR and no money in return. I made sure it didn't get too hot to handle without gloves, I kept a water bath nearby and when my fingers got uncomfortable I would quench it. I am fairly certain that the temperature was not too great, my fingers are still intact after all :)

This thread isn't about advertising it is about hearing what other people think of my ideas, good or bad. I'm not going to pay for a membership just so I can post the same threads I am posting now.

USA- I'll be the first to admit I do not know everything and I have no idea how to gunblue steel. The polished micarta scales are easy though, I've never used spacers as of yet so that would be kinda touch and go for me. What length blade would you want, it has a lot to do with the price?
Well, how about the same design, 2 3/4" blade, polished 440C, buffed black micarta handles and a kydex concealable sheath? PM or mail me offline and we can chat about it.
