A little bit of showing off, and a little bit of praise for an amazing company.

Up until recently I had been renting a liquid nitrogen dewar for my cryogenic treatment of blades. The cost to do so was silly at less than $10/month....but the cost to fill it, as I learned, from the place I was renting it was costing me nearly twice what I could it filled for at other places in town.

Additionally, I wanted a slightly larger dewar with a slightly wider neck. I looked and looked and the things were just crazy expensive....much less I couldn't find what I wanted.

I ultimately found International Cryogenics, Inc. and their dewars were the best value I could find. I was tossing around between two different models. I got a very nice lady on the phone who helped me design my own custom dewar and unbelievably it was only $25 upcharge to have the things customized. I still can't believe it.

I ended up with a dewar with a 16" interior depth from the bottom of the neck to the bottom of the chamber. This allows my slow as snail butt more time between fill-ups...perfect for my hobbyist nature. Evaporation in any dewar is a killer, so having added depth allows more time.

Neck was the right size, depth was on point....and the price was great for a Made in the USA product. Great, great company International Cryogenics is.....I definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to get their own dewar.

p.s. I paid full price for mine and will get nothing in return....I just want to give credit when it's due.

I might be tempted to do the same very soon. What is the neck diameter?

Edit: And how is over-pressure handled (is there a pressure relief valve)?

Neck is 2.25"

The "lid", if you want to call it that, is a loose fitting styrofoam cylinder that fits down into the neck...probably 4" long with grooves in it. There is no pressure build up because of this...the gases escape through the neck between the grooves in the styrofoam cyliner.
