My new Manix 2

The funny thing...the standard thumbstud has made gravity knives obsolete.
You can thumb flick a typical folder alot faster than a gravity knife.

nice knife! If you like the smooth CF then just polish the handle. IMO, it will make it look much better.

That's what someone at Spyderco suggested. Dunno if that would pass muster or not. I don't like a supertight pivot personally, but maybe that is the way to go.

I don't like a supertight pivot either, but I like it more than confiscation and a trip to the pokey:D

As an aside, both the axis and the ball lock are biased towards being closed. That TX law is horribly vague, and the axis and ball locks do not meet the definition of gravity knife per se. However, neither prosecutors nor judges necessarily have the education on what a gravity knife is, nor are either inclined generally to become educated.

Oh crud! That would appear to make the Manix2 a switchblade by the new TX law...
http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/81R/billtext/pdf/HB04456F.pdf

Took effect 9/1/09.

There is more to the law than what's written in statutes. Case law in Texas does not treat non-assisted locking folders as switchblades, so no changes needed to be made. This was not the case with assisted opening folders as a few jurisdictions were interpreting the law to come to the conclusion that assisted openers were switchblades unlike the rest of the state. That bill amended the law to specifically stop that.
