just got this guy in the mail yesterday....

it is a deep woods skinner/camp knife, made by matt lesniewski of ml knives www.mlknives.com this knife is rediculously sharp and very stout..

it has a 5 in. 1095 carbon steel, aged pattern blade... with a nice and comfortable aged hickory handle... it also came with a thick leather sheath, which i'm thinking of redoing or making another...

i don't really have any period/primitive-esque knives and i have wanted one of matt's knives for a long time now...... i love this one... i might just have to order another one or two....

I like that one a lot Mike! The aged blade really kicks it up. BTW, did you ever get the blade from the maker in Oregon? I was interested in one but have not been able to find the info on him.

Thanks,

hatchet-

Matt's knives look top notch. I got to look at one a few weeks back, and it was very sweet.

I like the sheath, it's looks like good quality, not flashy at all. Is it a tight fit?

Very nice Mike. Glad to see ya found one you liked. I have used two on his knives now and I loved them both. The only reason I sold them is to fund the habit..... and Charles May is going to get some money soon.

Thanks for sharing Mike:thumbup:

Very nice!
I like the profile, the sheath, the look, very well done.

It's a keeper, for sure!

thanks guys... this knife is awesome... i am really liking it a lot... it works wonders in the kitchen too....

i was fully impressed with it when it arrived, the sheath is nice and thick, but i think it is a little too wide for the blade... i might have to either trim it up and re-stitch it or make another... :D

all in all, i dig the knife and i think i might just have to give matt a call and order another.. maybe something a little smaller.. like a patch knife or a necker.....
