Hiya there Guyz & Galz,

As some of you may already know, I tend to carry two (2)knives on my person on a daily basis. (1) A small to medium fixed blade or medium to large frame folder, either way its in a belt sheath on my right hip.. And (2) a multi- blade in my right pocket located in a fine and supple leather sleeve on a lanyard/leash(called a buckaroo) for protection and to prevent loss..

For a long time I have been wearing my Buck 112 as my hip EDC for about 65-70% of the time and filled in the remainder of the time with a nice fixed blade sheath knife, of one kind or another of many that I own..

Well finally, my Buck 112 belt sheath wore out completely after about 12 years of usage. I recently got a new Buck 110 that was embellished that I thought I would like even better than the 112.. After recently comparing size and weight as well as my steel preferences I thought I might be better off with a large multiblade slippy on my hip instead..:)

Since one of my new collecting interests is Sowbelly's, I thought I would try a five blade Moore Maker Sowbelly in 1095 carbon steel.. After receiving this today, I measured it, weighed it, and fitted it for a belt sheath. I believe it will do just fine tomorrow on my right hip belt sheath in place of my Buck 110,, and with four extra blades in reserve and one-hell-of-a-lot-less encumbrance to me. :D ..

So, tell me,, what do you all think about this Moore Maker Sowbelly Knife as my new big ole user..??? Opinons Please!!

Rob,
Here you go my brother.. After the first day of use in my pocket, I do not know how I ever got along without them!.:) They keep the pock-knife clean and debris free and change in your pocket can't scratch the bolsters any more!.

What's not to like?? 1095, great yellow bone, one of the better leather punches invented........I don't know sunny!, Why don't you send it to me, and I'll try it out for a few years, and let you know!!:D :D

Hey sunnyd,

I like your MM sowbelly, I had one in red bone a while back and wish now I would have kept it...I was amazed at how sharp my MM was out of the box, I wish Queen would make their home brands that sharp out of the box also (pet peeve of mine). You made a great pickup and you are doing pretty good on the sowbelly's these days, my drooling problem is getting worse..

Tell me a little more about the sheath, I have never been real big on using one but that design is totally different. Is it comfortable enough to work in? I carry a knife everyday (My pants are on aren't they!!) and sometimes get coins stuck in between the blades and have a problem getting the knife out of the front pocket without removing everything else..

Thanks,

Sunburst

Thomason,

I'll wager it (Buckaroo) looks like these...

Just scroll down a mite. I use the first slip cases shown, but the Buckaroos are very cool.

Not afilliated...but Ron is a good man, IMO.

Bill

Well alrighty Billy-Boy!. :D

You got it my man.. Ron Ryder is the man indeed and I have him make these very cool buckaroo pouches for me. He makes these in different sizes on a very vintage leather machine, either late 19th century or very early 20th century(check out the pic on his website). He does some different varieties and he is one of the nicest fellows you'll ever deal with online or otherwise. Check out his website(I am not affiliated with this in any way) and you will be glad you did if you like Schatt & Morgans and other good quality pocket cutlery.

VERY nice! I was contented to wait a little longer before ordering one - but now I have to have one.
Hello there again Soldier, Sir,
You will not be disappointed. I have rarely seen such razor sharp, really scary sharp blades with appropriate and consistent blade profiles come out of the box like these. Not to mention the beauty of the golden-yellow jigged bone scales, fit & finish, walk and talk and all the cutting tools you will ever need rolled up into one neat old western type knife. I'm psyched to try this puppy out,, yes I am.

LOL - thanks. I think I'm going to have to look into one of those slip sheaths too - might come in handy when I have to load up my pockets with keys and such while carrying a nice pearl or smooth bone.

Well, OK then you got it, a trade sounds good to me. I am sort of partial to older Case Stockmans too. So, I'm think'n deal then?. :p :D :D

sunburst, Warriorsciologist, Thomason,
I have had similar problems with coins(lint, sand, dirt, and all matter of debris) as you have as well in the past, as I am sure many others have over the years. And YES, they are extremely comfortable! If you look back at post # 5 you can visualize the following description of how they work.

(1) You place the knife all the way into the buckaroo pouch so just the very end of one of the bolsters is exposed, so you can get easy access to the knife and for maximum protection.

(2) You push your belt threw the lanyard loop directly over your favorite carry pocket so it just drops in to that pocket.

This is the way I carry them, but, by no means is this the only way they can be carried.. They can be carried like the old pocket watches, and hooked to vest buttons and dropped into inside vest pockets/pocketwatch pockets. Girls attach them to purse straps to be placed inside purse pockets, and the list goes on and on.. Ron makes several different size buckaroos to accommodate various size pocket knives. I even had him make me some up recently that have extra long lanyards to be used in my cellphone pockets that are on my favorite pair of Dickies brand work pants. If you have any other questions let me know or go to Ron's website.

Stockmans, what stockmans?? I don't see any stockmans!!:D
