My favorite saddlemaker (Butch) made this for me. It is incredibly light and comfortable. You can see the the Mora 780 and the SAK Trekker, but I had him punch a couple of holes for attchments. I want put a ferro rod on it, but haven't decided how to do it just yet. In any case, a pleasure to wear...

Hey MN,

That is a cool rig. I don't wear a FB on my belt, but if I did, yours is something I would consider.

Doc

Myakka,

Oh no, I've seen your posts, you have the cool stuff...

Doc,

I do wear a FB quite a bit and I have to tell you I often wind up with this or my lakota (as opposed to larger blades) just beacuse of comfort. I don't even notice that I wearing this after a while. I think that is one of the biggest attractions of the Mora.

Hey mneedham,

Whenever I'm outdoors, I wear a FB, I just don't wear it on my belt. This probably originated while canoeing. I have a bad back so I always use a Coleman canoe seat and a FB on the belt would be a PIA. What I do use is a cross body Baldric rig, at least I think that's the correct term. You can see it here, and yes, it too is a Mora. I recently bought an RC-3 and I haven't yet figured out the best carry. I may have to get ahold of Mr. Kydex.

Doc

Thanks. I weighed it this morning when I had the flour scale out to make T-giving breakfast pancakes, the whole weighs about 10 oz. I like it!

AustinTS,

You are obviously a man of great intelligence and taste..

Doc,

I got to look at the pic. That's a great balsric and pic. Does the baldric stay where you want to?

Spooky,

Yep, just need a ferro rod...

Pretty well, and you can pull it around with your left hand and access it with your right. All in all, pretty handy. You will notice a Chris Janowky mag bar peeking its head out behind the Mora.

Isn't it amazing when different people come to the same conclusions totally independant of each other. This is my Rat 3 that I also carry on a baldric, specifically for canoeing, a knife on your belt is not very handy when sitting and the rat is too heavy for a neck knife.

That mora rig is very nice and I can't fault your choice of blades, I carry a plain edge trekker every day, hell it's in my pocket right now.:D

Does that maker have a website or offer his sheaths for sale? Chris

I like the Baldrics. An additional benefit would appear to be the hank of paracord you have.

Runningboar,

The maker's name is Butch McCabe. He is an old-school cowboy saddlemaker. He works at a ranch in the Adirondacks spring - fall and than heads down to Oacala, Florida for winter. I don't believe he has a web-site. I see him a couple times a year though. PM me if you want me to ask for something.

That looks like a nice rig for the Mora, but aren't you concered about having an open top with a substantial portion of the SAK exposed? I can see its a snug fit, but even so I'd be a bit worried about losing the thing without some sort of closure over the top.

Jh205,

Yep, I thought about having a flap to cover the SAK, but I decided against it for the moment (Butch said he can add one later..). I don't know if you can see it in the pic, but there is a paracord lanyard on the trekker that I run through the the snap of the mora if I am concerned about losing it. It is pretty snug, I can shake it upside down and it doesn't come out.

Runningboar - what do you keep in the pouch?

Normal junk I carry about everywhere I go, medical, fishing, and fire. I don't really consider this stuff a survival kit, more stuff I find handy to have on hand. Chris
