Alright! Finally a pic! Good pic up man you got a great knife! Looks like there are black liners on that baby. Is that a Koster nessie? I have a Fiddleback nessie on order and can't wait to get mine either. Like you this one will be my first custom as well! Good going pitdog nice knife bro!

Yup it's a Koster.....Fiddleback does some great Nessies, I think you will be pleased !!!

How are those scandi grinds? I do not own any scandi grinds yet, are they everything as advertised? What are the specs on your nessie? Love the dog too as always!

Just thought I'd join in as I also just this week got my first custom knife which just happens to be a Nessmuk from Dan Koster!
I havent managed to take it out to the woods yet, but heres some pics I snapped when it arrived...

If you're looking at nessmuks (Or any custom knife...), I cant reccoment Dan enough. Top notch work there.

The blade length ended up around 5 1/4", the steel is W2 and the handle material is cocobolo. I believe the spine thickness to be .188", but dont quote me on that!

Matt.

Hey cOOper great looking knife bro but do it a favour and give it some forest air !
There is nothing greater than seeing blades in the outdoors where they belong, table shots just look too clinical....IMO !!!

Once again though bro that's a great knife....enjoy !!!!!

Ha yeah I know what you mean...the only thing is that the knife arrived this week and college starts again on tuesday.
But even though everythings busy I'm sure it'l see some woods time real soon, I'm just itching to use it. I've been waiting for an excuse to take a trip up the coast to the redwoods again anyway!

Nice outdoor pics pitdog. As usual. Keep 'em coming.

cOOper and raindog I don't know if you feel the same but as soon as you hold these you feel like cutting some wood !!!
I have some knives that you hold and feel like chopping something etc but to me I can instantly see why these were a chosen Bushcraft design, they just feel right in the hand !!!

I agree totally. I won't be able to get out to the woods right away, but I'll try some batonning in the back yard tomorrow with some old firewood, so you all can see some action pics!

Yeah you're not wrong! It seems very well balanced and comfertable to hold. Maybe Dan will offer up an axe and a folder to complete the set one day...I know I would probably choke up some more of my college money for them. I'm sure theres some textbooks I could do without! :D

:eek:wow.... that is an awesome looking knife.... dan does some amzing work...:D

congrats.... great knife for a first custom....:D:thumbup:

Very nice! I like Dan's version and the natural Micarta really goes gret, nice new toy!

I own one of those Koster's in desert ironwood, and its DA BOMB!!!!!!!!!

That is a beautiful Nessmuk. Love the idea of a scandi-grind on it.

I am sorely tempted to get one of Mr. Koster's Nessmuks. Got 1 or 2 projects I need to clear out 1st though.

That's high praise coming from a top Nessie maker like yourself !!!

Dang, thats high praise coming from as highly esteemed a user as yourself! Thanks bro.

Dan is a friend and mentor of mine. He was influential in my getting into knifemaking.

(BTW, a new batch is ready. Give a look in the makers section for some cool eye candy.)
