Hey all, I am sorry for this thread but had to share. I just got my para2 camo (stainless steel blade) today and I am blown away; I love this thing so much and it has
only been 2 hours.

Right now this thread is a bit pointless, but in a week or so I will post a bit of a review and some pictures.

First thoughts:
-This thing was a little bigger than I expected but with a little handling/playing it feels awesome and rides really well.
-It is scary sharp.
-The G-10 handles are awesome, very grippy yet not too rough.
-She is just plain sexy, so awesome looking and I love the camo handle.
-Ergonomics are awesome, it is so comfortable in the hand.
-Right now the blade and lock are a little stiff; need to break it in a bit but man when I open it the lock shuts home with a loud smack! (very comforting with this big sharp blade).
-Fit and finish are perfect: no rough edges, blade is centered perfectly; no issues.

Overall I love it, favorite knife already (even over my delica 4).

Will update this later.

Thanks

Congrates Czech, they are a great knife and after break in cycle I bet they only get better.I plan on getting a 2nd one before years end.

Love my PM2s.... especially my Digicam DLC (black blade). Congrats and enjoy yours!

I was itching to get that one too...would be the only knife I would own two of...

A little pencil lead on the tang helps with the sticky lock. Give it a try if it doesn't break in quick.

Thanks skyhorse, so far it really is living up to all the talk. Working it pretty good to get it nicely broken in. Hey definitely pull the trigger on that, I may have to wait again till my next birthday and get another like this year.

I was on the fence on the Para2 since it came out and I am so happy I finally broke down and bought one. You won't regret it.

Hey thanks Jet, definitely will try that out if after a while it still is sticky.

I do have a question for you Para2 owners, the pivot seems a little gritty; after a few 100 flicks and thought I should oil it. Put a little 3 in 1 oil and even though it is better it still feels gritty. Is that normal/fine?

I spray the pivot area with Break Free CLP to loosen up any grit and flush it out.If you have access to an air compressor you can hit that area after or just let it dry out.Don't worry that's normal as you're knife breaks in.These knives are built with tight tolerances between parts and that's pure quality!

Ah that makes sense, I have broken it in enough that it is so smooth now. If it becomes gritty again I will do what you suggested, makes sense though about tight tolerances.

thanks a lot for the advice; this thing has been on me or next to me since I got it, love it.

3 in 1 oil and similar lubricants that stay wet and sticky attract and hold dirt. It's much better to use a lubricant that goes on wet and bonds to the metal but then the carrier dries out. 2 such lubricants are "Tuf-Glide" and "Militec." Either of these are highly recommended for use on your knives.

Hey mongatu which Militec product specifically should I used? I was given a sample of their grease and dry impregnated lubricant; I am guessing the dry impregnated lube?

If so, should I follow their application (heating) process?

_Edit: Will mention after some decent usage (nothing hard), and having it for 13 days there is some side to side blade play. Definitely going to loosen up the torx screws, clean out the 3 in 1 oil and try the militec. Hopefully after doing that and getting it all tightened up it will be good to go.

Hello......Got my Camo/Black PM2 today. I really like this knife. I was surprised to see that the pivot screws and the screws on the scales, and the lanyard hole were all black. I have heard a few gripes about the screws being silver in some of the reviews that I have read and all of the photos I have seen were with silver hardware. Did Spyderco make a change with the hardware color?

My Para 2's have some lateral blade play, however, it is completely unnoticeable while actually using the knife to cut with so it doesn't bother me much. If you can't tighten it away, there are some threads which discuss ways of taking the blade out to smooth and polish around the parts of the pivot bushing and/or clip holes that may be responsible for the lateral blade play. Some people have reported they have had success in getting rid of it in this manner. (Taking it apart technically voids the warranty, however.) Eventually, I plan to try this with one of my Para 2's.

About Militec, I personally use Tuf-Glide so can't speak from personal experience with their products. But I prefer the liquid products because they penetrate nicely into the inaccessible internal parts and then the liquid carrier evaporates away leaving the dry lubricant bonded to the metal. I believe Militec offers similar products and that is what I recommend.

Alright cool; I had a little bit of lateral blade play but wasn't noticeable when using the knife. I lightly loosened all the screws and then tightened them again, it is a lot better. Interesting idea, may have to try that if I keep having problems (after a few years or so haha).

I may end up getting some Tuf-Glide, have heard so much good I need to try it myself.

Thank you for all the help.

Tuf-Glide is a good product that you might find yourself using on more than just the knives/guns they market it for.

Glad you're liking your para2! I just picked up a black bladed model that should be here any day now, sounds just about perfect.

Hey Eric, good to see you still around.

That is what I have been hearing about Tuf-Glide, going to get some today or tomorrow.

Thanks, the para2 really is awesome; easily my favorite knife. I have carried it every day since I got it (been a few weeks now).
That is awesome, I really did contemplate getting the Camo handle with the black blade. I am sure you will love it, the para2 lives up to all the hype and more and it is worth all the hard waiting.

Glad you like it so much.

I feel the same way about it. I held off on it untill about a month ago, and now wish I had gotton one sooner.

It is just so great, nothing to not like really haha.

And I was the same, it first came out and I liked it a lot. With all the talk of how good the p1 was and how much everyone loves the Mili I knew the p2 being part of that family it would be worth it and knew I would get one eventually. My main drawback was cost; and of course already having purchased a few knives at the time.

Just unboxed mine, man this is the knife.
That is great man, good that you are liking it. It really is the knife haha.

Sorry for the double post/bumping my own thread but wanted to update.

I don't have pictures yet, camera still is finicky about when it wants to work... :grumpy:
I will get on that soon I promise.

I received my can of CLP break free and bottle of tuf-glide w/the needle applicator. Cleaned out my para2 and my old delica4 (it really needed it). Overall I am impressed/happy; the break free cleaned out the pivot area(s) really well especially on the dirty delica4. And the tuf-glide is awesome; so much better than 3 in 1 oil and I can tell its actually lubricating a little better. My only complaint, although silly, is that either the break free or the tuf-glide has made my knives smell a little odd... Other than that I am very happy and am liking how fast the para2 opens now.

Very nice knife indeed. It's my 4th Para and I figured if I am going Cammo on this one I'd go with the DLC also. Makes a great combo. Knife came silky smooth with perfect lockup.
