My New Pin Press

When attaching blosters, I've always peened the pins and had good success with the pins filling the holes. Recently I had a couple that just didn't fill completely. So necessity being the mother of invention, I decided to build a pin press.
I used an 8 ton hydraulic jack. From what I've seen so far, there won't be any more problems!
Here's the pics of my build. Let me know what you think.

Jarod,

Thanks for the kind comment!

I see no reason it can't be used to flare thong tubes, just have to be careful that you don't over do it or you will ruin the handles. Would probably want to limit it to micarta---can't imagine using it on a high dollar piece of stag or ivory.
As soon as I get some more 4140 bar stock I'll make a couple of flareing dies for it and give it a try.

Thanks for great comments, guys!

Redneck, I will be making another one but not sure when. As for a tutorial....well, I ain't the best teacher in the world but it is pretty simple (hey, I made it---how hard can it be?) and will try to get photos of each step.

Very nicely made, I am about to pin my first bolster, I would rather use your press than a hammer, harder to swing though :)
